Spring racing carnival (Australia)

We are well into our spring racing carnival. Today in Sydney we have the richest turf race in the world, The Everest, ($15 million) and The Kosciuszko ($1.3 million) and in Melbourne the Caulfield Cup ($5 million).

It is just over 2 weeks to the race that is billed as the “Race that stops the nation” the Melbourne Cup over 3,200 metres. Probably the only horse race in the world where there is a public holiday for the race.

Putting my racing touting hat on.

The Everest.

Alizee (Arabs) and Ten Soverieigns (Irish) are the two I like. Both at nice odds to upset the Apple cart.

Missed out BigAl. Three year old Yes, Yes, Yes won well. Ten Sovereigns was disappointing in running last and Alizee was 8th. Australia’s sprinters are up there with the best in the world. We have the world’s richest 2 year old race and we generally breed for speed.

Not long to go for the Caufield Cup.
