You are far better off graduating from a trade school specializing as an Electrician, Welder, Plumber, Carpenter, etc. than getting a Masters Degree in a “woke” field of study.

Not a lot of job openings for those with a degree in French Poetry or Gender Studies.

I personally believe Dr. Laura’s 10 Stupid Things books should be mandatory for members of both sexes.

Couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve seen female degree holders claim they were entitled to something better or a bigger pay check because, drumroll, they became:

SINGLE MOTHERS. They chose the ol’ why take the whole cow when you can get the milk for free, and chose not to place the baby for adoption once the sperminator jumped ship, but employers supposed to offer them high level technical jobs & paychecks to match.

Uh uh. You start at the bottom and work your way up.

MANY doors? no

But if you picture to assess someone from a
“does well on a 15 minute interview.”

You get a LOT of information about a candidate from the fact that they have a degree. More importantly if you have dozens of hiring managers working for you
and you don’t want to give them a free hand to hire “anyone who does well in a 15-minute interview” you would restrict them to hiring people with a degree.

What’s a hard science?

Had a landlord who earned a degree in geology, yet his day job was running an auto body repair shop. He could have done that probably with less education.

Angie Dickinson’s late daughter earned the sane degree, but visual limitations kept her from working in the field.

I see odd and “useless” fields mentioned on the Forum and by my family members. Yet these aren’t the most common majors in degrees awarded in the U S:

Even a degree like nursing is no guarantee of continued employment. Many new nurses give up the profession after a short term:

Phone junkie here but having some issues with mine, sorry

There is currently a nursing shortage. People give up that profession because it is a hard, difficult job.

I have met all sorts of people who could not-be-fired as submaker for three years who would probably be unfit running an ever-changing staff of 70 people and $20,000 a day in sales.

More to the point, if YOUR job is to set policy for 20 hiring managers
YOU are not likely going to give those managers free-rein to hire just anyone. And so corporate policy, gov’t policy etc. is to restrict who they can hire.

This is the fantasy part of education. I’ve seen what the college “educated” say online.

Outliers can always be found. He is not necessarily representative of all. Plus he is on Tik-Tok! Nuff said.

Electives are just a way to make people stay in college longer and pay more money to the school.

He’s not an outlier, he’s typical of people my age.

I myself majored in mathematics. At no point did I need or desire any other class, but colleges are a for-profit business, after all.

You beat me to it.

Marketed properly a BS in biology can be very rewarding. This is a tough degree to earn.

To the poster that worked full time and earned degree part time. I did this also and so did my wife who I met while studying.

Another clue that student debt forgiveness is tax money lottery. If you don’t have the money for tuition… work for it.

The person comes across as whiny and needy in the article.

A place holder job at Starbucks is something to be grateful for.

Must come across in an interview too.

And cos I am not of that age I will defer to you.

Two things define the American Millennial:

Eating ass
Earning useless degrees
