In a victory speech to supporters of his Fidesz-KDNP party on Sunday, Prime Minister Orbán hailed their triumph over the “overwhelming force” of “the left at home, the international left all around, the Brussels bureaucrats, the [George] Soros empire with all its money, the international mainstream media, and in the end, even the Ukrainian president” as proof that “Christian democratic politics, conservative civic politics, and patriotic politics [are] not the past, [but] the future.”
Meanwhile, EU is threatening to cut funds to Hungary based on concerns about vote-by-mail laws and other voting rules similar to those in many blue states in the US:
The Wall Street Journal noted Monday that the European Union is also considering cutting funds to Hungary over concerns that its vote-by-mail rules do not include voter identification: “In Brussels, the EU has been weighing whether to cut funding for Hungary. European lawmakers have argued that Mr. Orban has used his majority in parliament to rewrite election laws, redraw voting districts, and permit mail-in ballots without identity verification from communities that favor him.”
This looks a huge repudiation of Soros and Brussels and their allies. Hungary has been opposing NATO involvement in the war in Ukraine as well. Is the Hungary just a fluke? Or is this just the beginning of troubles for Soros and Brussels and their allies?
Given the size of Orban’s victory, it hard to imagine that alleged election irregularities would have had any real effect on the outcome of the election. On the other hand, will a push to end vote-by-mail in Europe result to protect election integrity also end the practice in the US?

Authoritarians have their supporters everywhere.
A better question is “is this fascist takeover of Hungary going to spread?”

So should we follow the practice being considered by the EU and cut off funding to states that follow the “authoritarian” practice of too loosely allowing vote by mail?
Oofda!
Had to lo look that one up too. G.W.F. Hegel and the concept of the concept. Karl Marx was a Hegel devotee. Hegel was influenced by Descartes of all people. Deep, those old guys did nothing but philosophize and read other philosopher’s stuff all day I guess.
