Not at all. People seek attention in alot of ways. Boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with them. They first call that boyfriend or girlfriend state they cant go on no longer and took whatever pills. Clearly those are people not truly wanting to carry out the suicide. They are looking for that attention. So should they be helped to carry their attempt?

I think one of my greatest fears is having an aweful disease like ALS where I am of complete sound mind but can’t move, essentially locked in syndome. If I ever got ALS, I do the treatment and if no improvement after 6 months or so, I’m out. No way I’m going out locked in my own body.

her body, her choice…

Does anyone believe the enacting laws were done without the consent of the people through their elected representatives in govt.? That is was done with no public debate? That discussion is conspicuously absent here.

I’m not advocating goverment outlaw assisted euthanasia. But at what point does society fail?

Did society failed this girl? One would think flags were popping up everywhere. But instead they processed with euthanasia.

and government ā€œhealth careā€ would never think of the cost of the ā€œcureā€ …

If you can sign a contract, you should have the option. I don’t care about the reasons.

17 is no. If she did it at midnight on her 18th, I wouldn’t care.

Do you know if steps were missed or flags weren’t raised? Do you know the process that her and her doctor went through before this occurred? Where did the ā€œfailā€ take place?

It’s not ā€˜ā€˜government’’ approving or disapproving euthanasia. It’s the people of Holland.

Why are you obsessed with making this about the ā€˜ā€˜government’’?

I would look back at point when she was first molested at 11…if it was recorded.

Would be interesting if we knew more thou.

Stuff like this doesn’t happen over night.

So boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with this person, they say they are going to to kill their self. The paramedics are called and this person comes to the emergency room due to on overdose. You think the physicians should let that person die?

Did you read the OP?

Because ā€œsomeā€ people look to goverment for moral guidance.

Did you read the link in the OP? That’s attention.

I don’t believe that.

But that’s not the same thing… I personally support assisted suicide in the case of terminal illness and other cases of untreatable and extreme physical pain.

But mental disease… no… just no…

But that is not the case here, and you’re obviscating the facts.

Here is another point to ponder. A person tries to kill their self and doesnt work but leaves them unable to care for their self. Should we pay their health care bill?

Paramedics save people, so I’m assuming you mean physicians standing over the person after they’ve been stabilized.

If they’re not going to wake up, it should work like every other vegetative state person, no?
If they are awake, and crazy, they don’t have the power to consent to euthanization.
If they can consent properly, then they can go through the proper procedures.

Ok. You’re inferring a failure led to her assisted suicide. It wasn’t that a process was followed and in the end it was determined assisted suicide was acceptable. I want to know what the failure was.
