Some comments on Zohran's grocery store proposal

Also, it’s super violent and gory

Honestly it’s almost comedically levels of violence. It’s similar to Mortal Kombat in that way.

What’s not true that I listed above?
Be 3 bucks short in a store and promisse as a long time customer and a MORAL person you swear on your mother’s name you’ll pay yhem next time you shop.
And come back tell us how it went.

I wasn’t sure what he was arguing in his prior post. So cops and laws are largely useless because all people are naturally morally good?

Cops don’t exist to make people moral.

Cops exist for one reason and one reason only…to protect the power of those in power.

You think cops are necessary to “keep people in line” precisely because you have been told and believe there’s a line you must stay in.

It’s more complex than this, of course. I’m oversimplifying it…no I don’t think people are totally morally good. But neither are they morally depraved.

On the other hand I don’t buy into the notion that absent “tight, strict controls” that society will devolve into chaos.

This is a slave’s mentality. This is a “if you don’t whip me, I won’t be good” mentality.

And it’s how people end up giving away so many of their freedoms…willingly.

Remember this all started with the notion that if cops didn’t exist, people would just rob stores all the time.

We will continue the beatings until morale improves comrade.

I recall having a similar discussion with those on the Left about replacing cashiers with self-checkout lanes. Interestingly they were singing a different tune about morality as they argued that shoplifting would simply skyrocket.

Let me give you a story from the inner city of my town, which most people will call a ‘food desert’.

We had like one grocery store, Nojaims Market with was in business for over 100 years.

The oh-so-bright people decided that wasn’t good enough, and used tax breaks and incentives to lure in a grocery store called ‘Price Rite’ (which is owned by a 20-billion-dollar company Wakefern Food Corporation) to open a store on South Ave.

The result was a turf war between Nojaims (which has like one store), and Price Right (which was backed by a 20-billion-dollar corporation).

Now, I ask you, who do you think wins that?

This is what happens when you tinker with the delicate balance of economics. Just because you put a store in a different part of the community does not mean there won’t be repercussions. I don’t think anyone realized how dependent Nojaims was on the South Ave neighborhood for their survival, they were just worried about getting rid of a so-called food desert.

This is going to roll downhill like a mother, with fallout you will not believe.

Sounds like you don’t understand the concept of moral risk.

He’s right. Police exist to ensure the authority of the state and maintain its monopoly on violence and compulsion.

The true issue is “to whom is the state accountable?”

Supposed to be the people. But they usually are accountable only to themselves.

This post above shows us what America’s biggest problem is.
Liberals created an army of indoctrinated goofballs who’re working tiresly on imploding the country from witheen.

In many countries, under many other systems are, the political leaders are not now, and never were, in any way accountable to the people. Whether autocracy by single strong man, or by central committee, the people were never the source of political power.

Anyone who thinks cops are bad should try living in Tijuana, Mexico for a month.

Let’s see how you feel after dealing a month in a city where criminals literally are in charge, and police are nowhere to be found.
