I have no idea. All I know is that for as long as Christie was in office, no contract for 8 years. We’ve been working under the same contract since he’s been in office. Now that he’s out it’s going forward.
“slavery in British
(ˈsleɪvərɪ )
noun
1.
the state or condition of being a slave; a civil relationship whereby one person has absolute power over another and controls his or her life, liberty, and fortune
2.
the subjection of a person to another person, esp in being forced into work
3.
the condition of being subject to some influence or habit
4.
work done in harsh conditions for low pay”
Number 1. pretty well describes our relationship with the Federal Government. We only have freedom as long as we share our fortune with them because they have the power over us to force us to pay tribute (the amount of which they determine) and to punish us (take away our freedom) if we don’t. Therefore, we are enslaved to them.
I know I do, whether I want the service or not. Again, that’s my point. Not only am I forced to give them the amount of tribute they demand, I have no say in what they use the money for.
No. You are taking quite the liberty with the English language to shoehorn the relationship between citizens and the federal government into that first definition.
That’s the beauty (and power) of the English language … it is flexible.
One has to wonder why you are so adamant that you are not enslaved to the Government. There is no stigma in it. Everyone who exhanges labor or intellect for money is in the same boat.
