So why wasn't there this woke/CRT movement in the 1980's or earlier?

I’m only mentioning that decade since it was when I started entering my working years. Don’t recall these ideas during that time, so why now in the year 2020?

the anti-war movement was very woke.

Which “ideas”, specifically?

Black nationalism started in the 1960? they were pretty woke.

The internet. That’s why.

There were plenty of woke movements in United States history.

The word itself is 75 years old or so.

Ideas is not necessarily the best or only choice of words. For example which NFL players were taking a knee during the National Anthem?

Don’t recall BLM protesting cops in the 1980’s?

1968 Olympics…

It takes time for society to warm up to things.

You don’t think people were protesting police brutality in the 80s?

Apparently you’ve never heard of Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Medgar Evers etc…

Because Christoper F. Rufo decided to turn it into a political issue a few months ago.

Unforgettable.

It’s the new “Cloward-Piven plan” - the weaponization of poorly (or intentionally mis-)understood academia.

MLK, Malcolm X, Medgar Evars, Eldridge Cleaver, Huey Newton, Nina Simone, Angela Davis, James Baldwin, etc…

Being woke to serious injustices and racism in America has a long history.

And by the way, all those people were hated by conservatives back then too. La plus ca change…

Lol. There was an incident in the 1968 olympics. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I specifically mentioned the NFL, I’m looking at 1980’s - 1990’s time frame. 1968 makes perfect sense to me.
