So libs, anybody can vote

What’s with refusal to support voters ID unless you want anybody to vote…even if it means shutting down the government.

This sums it up quite weel from a reliable source.

For many decades, politicians across the country have sounded the alarm about the purported risk of voter fraud and pushed for adopting voter photo ID laws to address this perceived threat. On the surface, this might seem harmless or even sensible. If we use a government-issued photo ID to buy alcohol or rent a hotel room, what’s the harm in asking for a photo ID to cast a ballot? No one wants to have a stranger impersonating them in a voting booth.

The issue with this argument is that time and time again, voter photo ID laws are proven to be ineffective tools to fight voter fraud — in the rare instances it does take place. While voter photo ID laws aim to prevent in-person voter impersonation, an almost non-existent form of voter fraud, other types of voter impersonation are similarly rare and not cause for significant concern. According to the Brennan Center, the rate of in-person voter impersonation is extremely low: only 0.00004% of all ballots cast. It’s worth noting that this rate is even significantly lower than other rare forms of voter fraud, such as absentee ballot fraud, which voter photo ID laws do not address.

So it’s not an issue your representatives should oppose, huh?

Any true small government conservative should oppose a law that isn’t needed or will be ineffective, as Guilds’ post showed a national voter ID would be.

And I bet most people would be for it as long as the issues mentioned in Guilds’ post where ID laws can lead to disenfranchisement are addressed.

And my guess is many of them wouldn’t be.

But we’re talking real consequences for opposing voter ID. Shutting down the government to block it isn’t small potatoes, and it seems needed with that in mind.

Those gerbil wheels are just a spinning, @Conan.

This has always been the case where the problem doesn’t justify the amount of effort it would take to completely fix. Or the fix would disenfranchise more voters than the actual amount of in-person voter fraud that might occur.

Make IDs free and easy to get and I’m all for it.

The only reason to oppose Voter ID is because it’s much harder to cheat with it required.

That is the original BS excuse that was given.
The truth is cons want to make it harder to vote. They limit voting places, dislike vote by mail, all under the guise that millions of illegitimate people are voting.
Which has NEVER been proven.

Sure you are…

THERE it is…I knew you couldn’t hold back any longer…the evil conservatives blah blah blah.

In my town we used to have separate polling places for each precinct. So you have the costs associated with operating multiple polling places, have to coordinate ballot and voting machine security after the polls close. So about 10 years ago they consolidated all polling locations to the county fairgrounds. SO much easier, able to seperate precincts by buildings, etc. The cry from the liberals in town of moving everything to the fairgrounds never happened.

They claimed that with the entire town converging on the fairgrounds that traffic and parking would “make it unsafe”, never happened, if anything, it is easier. They also claimed that having the town vote in one place, lines would be much longer. Reality is they were actually shorter.

So spare me the conservatives are trying to make voting harder ■■■■■■■■■ Election days are well known in advance…plan for it, this pearl clutching about voter ID, how in the hell can one function in todays world without am ID?
