It did, but that’s how burglaries are investigated everywhere. Or more accurately not investigated. Look at the stats for any police department in America, you’ll see a laughably low burglary clearance rate and then when you get into the numbers you realize that half or more of those are “extraordinary clearances,” AKA bull ■■■■ paperwork clearances that didn’t solve anything.

I’m going to stand in agreement here. Especially in larger communities, police depts aren’t adequately staffed to investigate a whole lot of issues – robberies and stolen cars and vandalism among many other such things.

And it’s only going to get worse. The overall rise in societal conflict and tensions, coupled with pushes to cut police budgets, will only serve to exacerbate the problem.

Under such circumstances, cops take reports and file them away. Maybe those reports will get connected to patterns or to the same suspect in multiples instances, but mostly they exist to have a record for other purposes, such as insurance claims.

Yeah like the crimes that actually affect people, like people everywhere: burglary, non commercial robbery, aggravated assault, car theft, the clearance rates for those crimes are atrocious. I mean just abysmal and half fake at that.

If you get beaten within an inch of your life there’s like a one in ten, two in ten chance anyone will actually arrest the dude that thumped you even if they know who he is. It’s madness.
