About the only one I can think of that was a good relaxation was the one where Obama pretty much called every standing puddle as part of the watershed.

The others are simply to line the pockets of the business sectors Trump is targeting while relative crumbs trickle down to the workers.

Worse is the financial deregulation that has quietly allowed the derivatives nonsense that brought the econony down in 2007 to go on at doubled and trebled pace quietly in the background.

But since Trump is a rentier, it’s not surprising that under cover, he relaxes regs in order to make extracting economic rent easier.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh yes, those infamous crumbs. Kind of like the basket of deplorables. Both will make great campaign slogans.

The irony here is that you can actually draw a pretty tidy fit line from 2009 to 2018. What you should be asking is why optimism plummeted under Bush, before the recession. The optimism jump when Trump was elected was due to the thought that he would be business friendly. That’s not a mystery. What other trends do you see?

Focusing on the crumbs statement. It is an elitist statement made by someone who is out of touch with mainstream Americans.

I started at the very bottom with everything my wife and I owned loaded into the back of her clunker car. We were dirt poor. The crumbs you speak of would have made all the difference in the world.

Fast forward 45 years and I’ve now moved significantly higher in that food chain, but I never forget my humble beginnings. And that is exactly why mainstream Americans support this President. Despite his wealth, he connects with the working men and women of this country in ways DEMs will never understand.

The American economy will always recover from a recession. The speed of that recovery can be influenced by government policy. Obama’s recovery was slower than normal because of his ant-business posture; massive new regulations and increased taxes on the rich. Yearly GDP growth never reached 3% under Obama, the only President to achieve that goal.

DEMs point to Obama’s recovery as something to be proud of. That speaks volumes about their agenda. What I find to be especially obscene is the audacity they show when trying to take credit for Trump’s pro business posture that is responsible for a booming economy.

Worked out great for me, made 80k on the house I sold on the east coast, the home I purchased in the midwest held it’s value. Because I could plainly see that my east coast house was overvalued at the height of the bubble, I cashed in.

You are being intentionally dishonest. Business optimism fell towards the end of Bush’s term as a result of the impending recession. It had nothing to do with Bush’s tax cuts.

The problem we are facing is that this is how Trump does business. Go into debt, kick the can down the road, file bankruptcy, restart the cycle. You can’t run a country the way you run a cheesy casino business. I’m a small business owner. He cut my taxes (for now) and the country is headed into deeper debt. It’s short term optimism based on unsustainable benefits.

My particular business is fairly steady regardless of the overall economy so I can’t anecdotally speak to the temperature right now, but from the looks of it, the way he’s buying our favor isn’t going to be good for the nation in the long term.

If more of the working class actually paid attention to Donald Trump about what he REALLY thinks about the working class…which he reveals in in his unguarded moments…they’d realize he was spinning them a yarn and not really “connecting” with them.

Prove it.

It was the 2nd worst economic downtown in American history. I would rather it take its time to be fixed, but correct itself properly, than quickly.

And remember, it was during all of this “uncertainty” and “overregulation” that corporations were raking in record profits hand over fist. And they didn’t use that money to pay more to the average worker.

Not necessarily. Often people starting up business were working before-so they’ll still be working, just at a different company (their own).

And considering most start-ups fail anyway…I’m not sure how you take this as a positive.

Optimism does not equal new jobs. New jobs equal new jobs.
