I take great exception with your self assessment. Goldwater was far more conservative than any position you have taken in these Forums. And I’m betting @Oldandtired would agree with me.

I could not care one bit of your assessment of me. Let’s leave it at that.

You got it lib.

I would not be supportive of this. The only people who should wrest power from a president is we the people or in dire times via the 25th.

Goldwater was a joke in many ways and is part of the problem today. I remember when he ran. Couldn’t vote yet but I remember.
You defend the leftist at every turn.
Just now you defended Obama.
What Obama faced was nothing compared to what I have watched being said and done to Trump and his supporters by members of the conservative party. Heck Bush and Reagan were treated worse than Obama ever was. But let’s cry for Obama he was so picked on.
I can get people not liking Trump personality. Heck I don’t care for a lot of what he says. But I don’t believe the man is evil. I have liked a lot of his policies and I believe that we are better with him in office than Hillary.
Putting on airs and a holier than thou attitude was never a big thing in who I voted for. Looks can be deceiving.
I have voted for a long time. Even voted third party once because I could not stand old man Bush. Perot seems like a man to me at the time who could change the direction of the country.
I saw what that gave me. The Clintons.
Only one man that I supported from the being has become President.
In all the years that my man has not won I have never turned on my fellow conservatives.
I will take a man who will give me what they can in conservative policies than a man who will give me nothing because of hate.
What I have not done is call my fellow conservative names and say how I was going to drive both Bush supporters the Romney supporters the McCain supporters the Nixon supporters into silence or out of the party because I did not like them.
I took the time to listen and try understand where they were coming from.
Like me Trump supporters were tired of the rino’s. We vote them in by what they promise us. And each and every time they bowed down to the leftist.
They like me were tired of conservative elected officials that were scared to death to stand up and fight because of how it might look.
McConnell in all the years he has been in office seems to have found a back bone and finally started to play by the same rules as the leftist.
Like the leftist you don’t seem to like having the playing field leveled. Having everyone playing by the same rules.
Here you are even blaming McConnell for holding up legislation but turning a blind eye to the leftist and their holding up helping the citizens of the country so they can get more of their leftist dreams passed.
The man has done nothing that the leftist would not have done.
The conservative party needed a wake up call.
The tea party groups before the media turned them into Satan himself tried to give the GOP a wake up call. Didn’t work.
The Trump supporters voted for Trump to slap the rino’s along side of the head and say wake up.
You can live in fairy land and believe that Biden is not going to stack the court and pass every crack pot leftist policy he can.
Just remember all the never Trumpers are going to own what happens next if Biden wins.
Once the leftist stack the court and the conservative party becomes nothing but a small ignored voice remember what happens will be on the never Trumpers.

The father of modern conservatism a joke. I stopped reading after that.

Where do I defend Obama?..

My change in my belief system started when conservatives here blamed Obama for stupid things…like bringing Ebola to America or taking the occasional vacation with his wife and young daughters. He’s costing the tax payers money…

I never liked any of Obama’s policies but he was a decent enough guy. I got tired of conservatives blasting everything he did…knowing full well what went around would come back on conservatives.

I was criticizing conservatives for attacking the man on every level…knowing full well the attacks were based on nothing. I attacked Obama on ACA, I attacked him on using drones to kill Americans, I didn’t attack him for using grey poupon on a hot dog. Like most Republicons did here following our hosts lead on that. I did not attack him for wearing mom jeans on a bike ride. But most cons here did. This was my problem and still is. Republicans when they can’t refute facts or attack on policy they call cute little names or attack a pwrson’s personality, age or speech patterns.

I call out Trump on what he says, not how he says it. I will continue to do so at your© dismay.

I won’t stand lock step in support of a president I don’t believe in, and don’t trust. And to you and yours©, I guess that makes me a liberal right. Sad you all can’t see, that I have moved beyond petty loyalty to party, and stand firm on the core of conservatism. Maybe you should read some Goldwater and see where I am coming from. He wrote two amazing books on conservatism.

He also said that the religious right would be the ruin of the republican party and the conservative ideology. And he was right.

Sorry i don’t have to read a book about Goldwater. I was old enough to remember what a loser he was.
Nice attack on religious people. Guess these people don’t deserve a voice.
How small of a party do you want? Trump supporters are not welcome. Religious people are not welcome. People who vote policy not personality are not welcome.
Never Trumpers spend a lot of time defending Obama and the left.
But the people in what they say is their party. I guess they are all trash to them and not needed. Because they sure don’t seem to care about what is said about trump supporters,
Never once did you comment on the way Trump supporters are treated. Guess the names they are called and the things said about them is just peaches. Silence on how Bush was treated. Guess he deserved what he got. Not a peep on how Reagan was treated. The man who is the father of what is a conservative. Guess he deserved how he was treated.
Nope you jumped right to defending Obama.
Obama was a poor President who thought of no one but himself.
The leftist got what they deserved when conservatives ribbed Obama over little things because no matter what the conservatives said about Obama the same thing was said by leftist. And that was you are a racist and can’t stand having a black man as President. Did you remain silent while they were accused of racism when what they were doing was objecting to the mans policies?
No one has asked you to walk lock step with Trump.
I have even disagreed with things he has done.
What I have not done is what never Trumpers have done and that is turn on my fellow conservatives who support him.
I have also never once thrown away my conservative stances because of hate. Because unlike never Trumpers I don’t worship the man I vote for I don’t even have to like the man I vote for. I vote for the man no matter how obnoxious he is that will advance a conservative platform.
What I see is petty never Trumpers who are willing to give up conservatism because of hate. These never Trumpers are the loyalist of the party who believe looks are more important the policy.
So in a few weeks we will know who will be in control for the next 4 years.
And if it’s Biden and he stacks the courts and pushes through every leftist dream and the GOP becomes a small voice with no power in the future. The never Trumpers will have no one to blame but themselves. Because they are the ones who decided the looks are more important than policy.

I mean what I say.

I did not attack anyone. This is why I don’t converse with you you turn everything into an attack. Goldwater’s statement on the religious right was talking about those politicians who use religion for political gain, those who make religion part of politics.

See that is what makes me laugh…I have been in one form or another of this forum for almost 18 years. I staunchly defended Bush, Reagan is a personal Hero. Donald Trump is no Ron Reagan…you don’t know what I have defended or not defended before 2018…you don’t know because you can’t go back and see 15 years worth of my posts. Yes…I am a never Trumper, largely because he treats people like dirt. I came out in support of new trade deals, and even rolling back some EPA standards. I staunchly defend his yearly statements on forest management every time California Torches itself.

Obama was a ■■■■■■ president. I have never denied that. I criticized people who attacked his jeans, his golfing( which Republicons did regularly while defending Trump spending federal money at his own resorts each weekend) I defended his decisions to go on a family vacation once or twice a year. Which republicons thought was outlandish!

I hugely criticized him on ACA, and on his unlawful killing of Americans with drones. But you only know what I have posted over the last two years.

Conservatives turned on me the very moment I became logical and realized trump was not the man for the job. You© all assumed I voted for Clinton…even though I said countless times I voted for Johnson.

You© all have made it clear, I’m a lib because I point out the president’s mistakes. I point out his incapabilities.

Back on ignore for you. I won’t deal with or respond to more personal attacks. Have a blessed Sunday.

Interesting in that one or two other “true conservatives” in here claim to be Goldwater conservatives all the while consistently taking the liberal side of positions.

Look…earlier in this thread, I started my disagreement with Pelosi. Even stated she should not have brought articles of impeachment. It’s interesting how that simply gets ignored by you© all. I’ve at times agreed with the President…that also gets ignored.

I don’t like Trump, so I’m a liberal. That’s how you© all see me.

There’s nothing wrong with being a liberal. Libs… horse of a different color.

My problem is it is not who I am…my Governor Eric Holcomb has done a very good job. He has my vote. He has a difficult decision coming up. Keep the state at stage 5 or roll it back a notch. We have seen a huge spike since opening fully.

We were talking about Goldwater, not Edmond Burke … or even Willam F. Buckley.

Spot on.

Remember, both trump and pelosi said that it wasn’t about trump, but about the next president(s).

And pelosi did say the president is crazy when talking to milley.

…the only problem is, IMO…Kamala would be even worse. I heard it said that maybe Trump should run for a Florida Congressional seat, the Rs take over the House and Trump become speaker, then impeach them both.

Heads would explode if Trump ran for a Florida Congressional seat. It would be like a fireworks display on New Years Eve at Times Square.

And all very legal. I hope he does.

He’d have to move out of Mar-a-Lago. No chance in hell he can win in the Florida 21st.
