the plea system is a problem going back decades but like with pre trial detention its criticism seems to appear out of nowhere in this particular context.

That’s an important point. This isn’t just some new-fangled legal theory designed to hose the insurrectionists. This has been common practice for decades now.

That something has been being used by the legal profession for decades, does not ensure that it has been just and without political abuse.

It’s the same thing over, and over, and over again. It’s the mindset of people who expect to be protected by the system, not bound by it.

They are flabergasted by the fact that you can’t go into a courtroom, say any old thing, and be taken seriously. They are flumoxed by the notion of pre-trial detention. They are outraged that a defendant can’t go out and slag people in defiance of a court order.

They honestly believe that they should be able to mostly do what they want. The law is for other people.

And now, in the face of the reckoning, they simply can’t believe it’s not going their way. It’s not the crimes…oh no, heaven forfend!

So why isn’t Hunter in prison? Is it because there really wasn’t a laptop full of evidence that would convict him in a court of law or is it because it was all Russian disinformation as those 51 former, trusted intelligence agents indicated?

Even if you could use the laptop as evidence… what crimes would he be thrown in jail for? Hookers and blow?

No we don’t because they have lawyers The biggest issue with the plea bargaining system isn’t just the system but that it is abused by prosecution with people who can’t afford even decent legal defense representation
