MSNBC ran the story tonight. There seems to be a communication problem where no one is sure who should be in charge of a response. And the logistics of doing this project in a reasonable time frame is pretty steep. As the reporter said, with the latest outbreaks of the variant in the rest of the world, Africa might not get the attention that it needs right now.

Well that’s just unacceptable. For anyone that wants to help now.

Checking the numbers, it doesn’t look like a disaster quite yet, except for South Africa that is.

Yes. Take your needles and go door to door in Africa.

Evidence is starting to trickle in that Delta hits young people hard.

We’ve been fortunate they’ve been immune for so long. That may not last.

Pointing out that you’re making two different arguments in different threads, thus implying pretty heavily you don’t actually believe in either for any reason but political convenience, isn’t trying to cancel you.

Japan is at 1% or close.

How about Latin America?

How about Cuba specifically?

That is certainly the case in Australia where those aged 60 and under represent in excess of 65% of all of the active cases.

canada should do it

Lots of people in our school district are choosing home school/virtual for the fall now that our administration is caving to a small but vocal (and nasty) group of people who at first said they wanted masks off their kids just so they could have free choice…but are now pressuring the district to get rid of every single mitigation step that’s in the current health and safety plan.

So much for “people can do what they want and we don’t care”. It quickly morphed into “our way or the highway”.

I don’t really understand this mindset.

How is “get rid of every single mitigation step that’s in the current health and safety plan” inconsistent with "So much for “people can do what they want and we don’t care”?

Are they saying that “our way or the Highway" is nobody can wear masks if they choose to?

At first they said it was only the masks they wanted gotten rid of because wearing masks for 8 hours a day was “bad for their health” and “detrimental to their learning”.

Now they want the social distancing removed…they want protective barriers and other mitigation efforts removed…they are threatening to sue the school district unless the district pressures the bus company they use to remove the mask requirement on buses…which would result in higher insurance costs for the bus company. Which would be passed on to us, of course, as we are in the midst of contracting for the next few years.

Here their kids would have masks on no more than 20 minutes…nope…too much for them…and of course they could drive their kids and still have their freedom…nope…they have to get their way.

They want it all normal despite the fact other parents in the district would be very uncomfortable with that.

And we already know these people are nasty to those people that still choose to wear masks.

Doesn’t answer my question. How is “get rid of every single mitigation step that’s in the current health and safety plan” inconsistent with "So much for “people can do what they want and we don’t care”?

Then those parents can tell their own children to wear masks and social distance, can they not?

Any nastier than the inverse?

Sounds to me like one group wants cover for their way.

We can’t even get Louisiana vaccinated.

But yes. Eventually we will be helping the entire globe. Starting with Africa is fine by me.

On what basis?

It’s arbitrary. Zantax seems to think we should start there. Fine by me. You have someplace else you’d rather focus on? Put forth an argument.

Eventually we’re going to be helping the entire globe. It doesn’t really matter where we start.

Either we will or China will with the their trash vax that’s a front for them gathering up genetic data.

Arbitrary is hardly a criteria.

LATAM including Cuba, then Japan.
