In fairness, any trauma inflicted on the child is due to the reaction of their parents. Children at a very young age are curious about and recognize the anatomical differences between males and females without any trauma unless a parent intervenes in a negative manner.

It’s not about dongs and boobs as much as the autonomy to go to a facility without seeing the anatomy of the opposite sex in vulnerable scenarios. Showers, changing areas, etc! I don’t want my daughter seeing dongs or boobs if necessary, kids under 5 are very impressionable. I especially don’t want her seeing dongs!

Children under five … both girls and boys … have been going into both men’s and women’s public dressing rooms/showers for as long as such public facilities have existed without a problem. The issue of causing trauma to young children seeing naked adults in those facilities was never a serious thing until “transitional” people started using the facilities. Perhaps someone should ask the kids if they are upset … and ask them before their parent makes a big deal out of it.

I can understand the women being upset, but they should be honest about it rather than blame it on their children.
