Of the many reasons I wouldn’t vote for Trump in 2024 (at this point, I think he’s running), here’s one: his inclination to leave (and therefore end) NATO. This is based on his own claims, accounts of his advisors, even NATO allies themselves.
If you think this was all a bluff on his part, and he had no intention of leaving, fine. If you think all the speculation from his advisors (and people like John Bolton) is ■■■■■■■■■ that’s fine, too. I am not interested in debating reality. Here’s what I am interested in:
If Trump is elected, and decides to pull the US out of NATO, will you support the move?
Meh. We no longer lead the world anyway and we certainly don’t want to be the world police, right folks?

Yes. Trade and commerce with all, entangling alliances with none.
Deploying the military should be on a case by case basis. Not an obligation.

The EU has led the way in Ukraine.
Do they need the USA?
Maybe China would be a better partner.
Trump was successful in getting NATO partners to better meet the 2% fiscal commitment.
The issue looks to be where and how the NATO and EU border meets Russia.
The US and China can be moderators while those stake holders figure out a permanent solution.
The Baltic states should be ■■■■■■■■ themselves right now, not US.

Yes!!!. I’m firm believer that EU and idiots in NATO fallen for EU expansionism that directly caused the war in Ukraine.
Just as I’ve been warning about…even before Trump.

Baltic states should have remained neutral.

NATO should have ended once it was clear the Eastern Block and USSR couldn’t reform.

No…EU. Maybe even NATO…partner with the CCP nuclear umbrella.
The US can keep North and South America under ours.

We Rely on early warning sites in Europe as part of our nuclear umbrella.

We also have an astronaut in the ISS with a pair of very powerful binoculars keeping an eye on the Ukraine War.

That doesn’t change anything I just said.

If that’s the potential to actually be a good thread.
The world order is changing. What should be the United States’ Grand strategic concept for the new world order that is forming?

For that luxury we allow them to expand at our expense?

I made no such comment. I simply pointed out that we have early warning stations in Europe upon which are nuclear umbrella depends.
This has the potential to be a really good discussion, but people should try hard to keep their personal emotions out of it.
Things are as they are, regardless of how one personally feels about it.

Trading partners with Russia and Europe instead of making one as our enemy.

Russia is a bad actor. How do you propose to deal with that and making them a trading partner?
