They sprang this ■■■■ on the world and they’re celebrating?

Voice of America is a USG agency.

You don’t think this might cause some Asians to get beat up in New York City?

The Voice of America is a relic of the Cold War Era. Should have gone out with the Cold War.

It might have been justified during the Cold War, but obsolete now.

Hopefully Americans are smart enough to read the caption which stated that those people had been in lockdown for 76 days and realize that they themselves have a long way to go.

What about it do you think with trigger someone to go beat up an Asian?

The fact that they’ve been in lockdown for 76 days, whereas Americans have been in lockdown for 21 days at the most?

This is an interesting article about what happened to the VOA in 2016.

Rules changed, approved by Obama, but brought up by Republicans.

But the election of Donald Trump, whose attitude toward the press veers wildly depending on the favorability of the treatment he receives, has left some supporters of the venerable broadcaster worried. Critics, such as Democratic board member Michael Kempner, charge that the Obama administration and Congress are handing Trump new propaganda tools with a vast international reach.

SInce the VOA hasn’t been the propaganda tool that Trump wanted, looks like he’s throwing yet another hissy fit.

Yep. They appear to be celebrating. What would have been a more appropriate response in your opinion?

And I’m aware. They reported the news. The snowflake Trump then had a hissy fit.

ok. So let me get this straight. People in NYC are gonna see this VOA article and then get so angry that they are going to find the nearest Asian and beat them up?

Ok, if you say so.

“China Flu”

Making masks for everybody else.

Who even calls it that?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::+1:

I’m sure there’s time for both, don’t you think?

I can process the blame for the spread of this pandemic without turning to childish name calling.

Do you ever actually read things to which you respond?

It is blindingly obvious you just reacted to the OP and did not read the linked article.

Well President Trump did, until he had to beg for supplies from China, and then mollified Xi with a 1 AM tweet that he probably figured none of his supporters would read.

After which he stopped calling it the Wuhan Virus.

So calling a virus a childish name will cause Chinese people to get beat up but an article about them celebrating in a government media outlet won’t?

That’s right, it won’t.

Because the context of the one is clearly Trump and his flunkies blaming China (and not even the government of China) for the virus, and the other is Chinese citizens celebrating the end of their lockdown.
