Amen…

Lethal force is the only way…

I pray I never end up in that scenario. We all get to pause the footage of the incident and say whether or not we would have done this or that but in real life this happens in seconds.

It’s a tragedy when anyone loses their life like this but he couldn’t simply just let her stab her and hope for the best. This one is sad because of the age at the same time it’s very likely the other would have been killed. Regardless if you are holding a deadly weapon and told to put it down and you ignore and go to stabbing your going to get shot white, black, brown, or green.

You’re betting life on possibility in the heat of a crisis moment.

That’s quite the gamble and you know it.

It doesn’t take a lot of skill to fatally stab someone. Thousands of People with no history of violence or any training have stabbed people to death over the last 50 years. It’s a very common tool used in murders of passion because knives tend to be plentiful in a household.

When someone is attempting to use lethal force on a victim then lethal force is authorized and fully justified to stop the assault.

She wasn’t trying to punch the girl or grab her hair or any of that nonsense. She was trying to stab her.

Like Sneaky said earlier, had the girl in pink been armed she would have been fully justified in shooting her under the circumstances.

I am not betting anything. I am voicing my opinion.
Which is Police in America are trained to shoot to kill, as that is what they are told to do.
They also get minimal training overall when it comes to using firearms.

That lack of training, and the persistent message that every day could be your last day living…keeps them in an environment, that produces the results we see in the US, vs other western democracies.

There are far more dangerous jobs than being a cop.

No disagreement on that last point. Being a construction worker is more dangerous than being a cop going by statistics.

But the point still stands. They are trained to stop the target as quickly and as reliably as possible. Center mass shots with hollow point rounds with a firearm is the most effective way to do so when the target has a weapon and is attempting to use it in a potentially lethal manner.

Had the girl dropped the knife she would still be alive. The officer was in control of his senses and he commanded her to drop it immediately. She didn’t do it.

What else was he supposed to do considering the circumstances? Gamble with the other girl’s life?

Doesn’t matter to the organic intellectuals who are all knowing. Come on man.

None of which applies in this case. The cop was not defending himself.

That is close, but off. The actual training is “eliminate the threat”. If the threat stops moving, the shooting stops. Whether it is dead or not is an outcome.

You say “shoot to kill” like there is an alternative. “Shoot to…?” What? Wound?

If you notice, I am not blaming the cop, the person. I am blaming the training, or lack there of. Additionally, one has to look at the recruitment process, and also how many times are cop’s mental health checked. It is a hard damn job, and seeing many of the bad sides and actions of humans, takes a toll over time.

Been on the force 16 months.

And? Still does not address to what I keep saying, it is the culture of America’s policing. Which is partly due to the type of training they receive, and the lack of enough training when it comes to firearms. Also, the quality of people that are recruited, and the ongoing psyche evals they do not receive.

He didn’t miss and was quick enough to save the victim.

When you take out one sentence, it ignores the other points I made.
Which was training, recruitment. It is not just one thing.

I understand, that is your viewpoint. You see it as a success. I do not.

You really don’t know what happened.

What was wrong with his training, recruitment? In any of these cases except Babbitt?

The victim was saved, the perpetrator was the only one shot.

He got lucky. And somehow thought 4 bullets was just a perfect amount to stop a girl with a steak knife.
