Hell I have a cousin serving life because he decided to murder a store owner during a robbery. And all he stole was some cokes, ten packs of smokes, and what little money was in the register cause they robbed him early in the morning.

This was Cliven Bundy’s position for decades. He also claimed the Bureau of Land Management had no Constitutional authority to charge him “per animal” to graze on land the US government not only did not “own” but land the BLM did not “manage”as the Bureau asserts it does when charging ranchers to graze their cattle.
Admittedly a stretch but to Bundy’s point, how does the federal government prove ownership of this land?

The problem is that the Government Agencies are incapable of distinguishing between a mandate to manage with ownership. No Agency owns land except the Post Office and the Army.
