Our Presidents are typically older, and the older people get, and the more stress they are under, the more they are at risk for mental illness.
Trump is 70, and he seems to be going in the direction of some sort of mental illness. Paranoia and megalomania to name two. (Refusing to watch anything except Fox and thinking that we can bring other countries to their knees with a trade war without irreparably harming our own trade.)
Not unheard of - there are suspicions that Reagan’s Alzheimer’s was beginning to show at the very end of his presidency.
So, long story short, regardless of which party is in office, should Presidents take a battery of mental health tests every few months to make sure they aren’t having issues?
It would somehow have to be done bipartisanly. Have a Democrat and a Republican psychiatrist administer the tests perhaps…
I don’t think it’s impossible, but I’d say it’s very unlikely that you don’t have any issues that could benefit from seeing a mental health professional.
Trump clearly has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It has gone mostly unchallenged in his life since he was able to ■■■■■■■■ and lawyer his way out of trouble, because he is rich. No psychiatric test is needed for that, the sings are observable to anyone. He meets all of the DSM-V criteria for the disorder. There may also be some type of neurological decline happening which would take a medical assessment, but apparently he passed one of those tests recently, according to one of his doctors. He’s still nuts.
His BS is now under daily public scrutiny and he has nowhere to hide. He is reacting with rage because his “reality” is being challenged and his dirty dealings are uncovered.
Only as comorbidity with BPD. And I would say his BPD is worse.
But the Americans with Disability Act requires that we ( his employer) make reasonable accommodations. So he is doing his job well and so his personality issues are largely irrelevant.
LOL. The CEC bandied that word around about Obama like they’d found a new toy. Now that his successor is the living embodiment of the disorder, we don’t hear much about it anymore.
A. He hasn’t been officially diagnosed with anything, as far as we know. Most character disordered people rarely seek help because they are oblivious to their condition.
B. He isn’t seeking treatment for his issues.
C. The civil protections for those with disabilities are moot if the person cannot perform their job adequately, even with treatment/accommodations.
