In the context of this post, pointing a laser and poking someone’s eyes out sound a bit different. I am not suggesting the injuries are different, just the way they occurred and what level of force is appropriate in each scenario posed.

So in that context … if someone is trying to poke out your eye directly there are non-lethal means to stop them, but if they are burning out eyes from across the street, those same non-lethal means will stop them?

Prolonged sound over 80 dB can cause hearing loss. Protests can easily reach over 100 dB causing irreversible damage in less than 15 minutes. Police and federal agents should be allowed to use deadly force against sound attacks that can result in permanent hearing damage. A person using a loud voice is no different than a person pulling a knife.
