“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

So you agree, the states create sheriff’s and can require them to uphold state law and even remove them if they fail to do so.

P.S. I’m very familiar with the “Constitutional Sheriff’s” movement…

Like Proposition 8?

Yes. And then they can pay the price.

By whom? The citizens of the state?

Wait no! Supremacy Clause. I win!

Just because some don’t agree with a proposition or law voted by a majority doesn’t make it any less valid. It simply means those who disagree with it have to educate themselves and go to the ballot box armed with knowledge.

Are you denying that Texas was once an independent country and entered the USA on its own term? I’ve never met a Texan who was ashamed of being different before. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was overturned by a tiny minority.

I’m denying you can spell Texas.

Paraphrasing Kelly Conway is a pathetic way to try to prove you are not wrong.

A tiny minority? How does a tiny minority not qualify as the majority? If they were the minority how did they overturn it?

Article 1, Section 1 of the Texas state constitution…

Sec. 1. FREEDOM AND SOVEREIGNTY OF STATE. Texas is a free and
independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States, and
the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the Union depend
upon the preservation of the right of local self-government, unimpaired to all
the States.

Oh. :grimacing:

Did you miss the :stuck_out_tongue: in that post? That connotates sarcasm.

They wore bathrobes.

So voters still could have had a voice at some point along the line, right? Elected officials, judges, district attorneys, sheriffs… don’t the voters have a say in some of those? Non-victims chant, “yep!”

Indirectly. I’m not a victim.

Didn’t say you were. And it’s not “indirectly.” In a constitutional republic, voters have say in how their government is shaped. Judges can’t appoint or select themselves.

I agree.

Doesn’t change the fact they over-turned the will of the people

Reminds me though, I need to call Trump.
