Ok with it?
He can refuse the edict. The judge has remedies.
Whether I’m “ok with it” or not is irrelevant.

So what should the repercussions be for the Sheriff?

Contempt of Court and jail

Are any of his charges/wards actually convicted violent felons, or are we discussing people - human persons with protected liberties - who are mostly awaiting trial, or serving misdemeanor and violation sentences?
Do we really want sheriffs refusing orders with regard to persons who are not convicted of crimes?

What do you feel the remedies available to the judge are?
Repercussions is the wrong word for now.

Seems like abuse of power at a level where real harm immediately follows. This isn’t a trade proposal that might cost jobs ten years down the road, which can be studied and debated.
This is people awaiting trial who may die before they get their day in court.
It’s a radical political org, Constitutional Sheriffs And Peace Officers, Richard Mack’s group. Kind of like active duty Oath Keepers or sovcit radicals.

So why arrest murders then? Just sent them a ticket and have them promise to appear. I am sure the upstanding individual they are, would appear.
I wonder what the bail is on these folks.

If they are following the Constitution, I disagree they are radical.

I’m sure there’s a remedy somewhere between ’ ■■■■ it, let ‘em all die’ and panties-bunching over an accused murderer’s threat to public safety, no?

Real harm does not immediately follow. Covid is not guaranteed.

Good Lord, “let them all die!”? They aren’t dying.

That’s a gamble with human lives anyone concerned about abuse of power probably shouldn’t make.

Yep. The death and infection rates for incarcerated persons is atrocious.

Abuse of power? They were ordered into custody by … wait for it… judges.

Into custody, not into a covid petri dish.
They follow what they think it says when it’s convenient. They are radicals.

No it isn’t. What is the death rate in that jail? According to the sheriff, they have zero cases at the time of the report.

I doubt that. I don’t doubt you believe it.
