Talk about a strawman. Nowhere in this entire thread did I say they were. I only commented on the fact that it is outside cities jurisdiction to enforce federal immigration law and hold them over 72 hours

Probably to an extent. Yes. But the overwhelming majority of the blame lies with Republicans and their greed, profiting off of unskilled, poor, illegal labor. A large portion of the blame lies with the farmers in flyover country that are heavily skewed towards Republicans as well.

No. I think the wall is theatrics to distract us from realizing that neither party wants to fix immigration. Keep us arguing amonst ourselves instead of holding the people responsible accountable. Seems to be working swell.

Hundreds of illegals dumped on the streets of El Paso because ICE has no place to put them. 24,000 released this way since October.

Congress needs to drastically increase funding for border enforcement. 5B for the wall should just be a start, a gimme.

They are not released because there is no place to put them. They are released because it is illegal to detain them indefinitely.

Serious question.

If someone has applied for asylum and is released pending court application for review…

…are they in the country illegally or are they here legally at that point?

Correct and if they aren’t going to be granted asylum then it is the responsibility of the Federal government to detain or deport them, not cities or states.

Fortunately that is not what I said. But nice strawman nonetheless. And most CEO’s are Republicans. Most farmers are Republicans. Most of the titans of the Food Service Industry employing illegals are Republicans. Are there a small minority of Democrats that are employing illegals? Undoubtedly. But the overwhelming majority are Republicans. They are the problem and they are the reason this issue isn’t going to be solved.

The border isn’t the problem. It’s the loopholes and lack of interior enforcement allowing illegals to stay once they make it past the border. When ICE started ramping up interior enforcement, Dems called for abolishing them. Makes sense, right?

An isolated few called for ICE to be abolished but I seem to remember that it didn’t go anywhere and was just a few people speaking up in anger. I for one have no problem with the federal government doing their job.
