And you think those lobbyists aren’t also filling the pockets of Democrats to maintain the status quo? That seems fairly naive.

Talk about a strawman. Nowhere in this entire thread did I say they were. I only commented on the fact that it is outside cities jurisdiction to enforce federal immigration law and hold them over 72 hours

Of course there are lobbyists doing that as well. It’s how it works even more than ever thanks to Citizen United

So not a rebuttal, a deflection. Got it.

Probably to an extent. Yes. But the overwhelming majority of the blame lies with Republicans and their greed, profiting off of unskilled, poor, illegal labor. A large portion of the blame lies with the farmers in flyover country that are heavily skewed towards Republicans as well.

So it’s nothing but a 25 billion dollar “Squirrel” to keep us occupied but also something that has to be done?

Right because there aren’t any illegals working in the food service industry or any other industry outside of farming for that matter. Pretty sure those businesses aren’t all run by Republicans. Money has no party affiliation.

It absolutely is a rebuttal. What you want cities to do is against the law. No way around that fact until the law is changed.

Serious question.

If someone has applied for asylum and is released pending court application for review…

…are they in the country illegally or are they here legally at that point?

What is it you think I want cities to do exactly? I mean the main reason I come here is having random strangers on the internet tell me what I think.

Honestly? It’s a grey area. I think by design.

Correct and if they aren’t going to be granted asylum then it is the responsibility of the Federal government to detain or deport them, not cities or states.

Uh huh. Are you insinuating I ever said otherwise?

I guess I was wrong and that you really don’t have a problem with sanctuary cities who refuse to overstep their authority. My bad

Fortunately that is not what I said. But nice strawman nonetheless. And most CEO’s are Republicans. Most farmers are Republicans. Most of the titans of the Food Service Industry employing illegals are Republicans. Are there a small minority of Democrats that are employing illegals? Undoubtedly. But the overwhelming majority are Republicans. They are the problem and they are the reason this issue isn’t going to be solved.

You have proof of this majority of Republicans? I think you’re blowing smoke.

Cute. When you want to discuss what I actually said, get back to me. I don’t respond to words put in my mouth.

You think the majority of the wealthiest Americans are Democrats? The majority of CEO’s are Democrats? The majority of flyover country and farmland are Democrats? Lol

I don’t think I’m the one smoking here.

Anything to defend trump and blame Democrats

An isolated few called for ICE to be abolished but I seem to remember that it didn’t go anywhere and was just a few people speaking up in anger. I for one have no problem with the federal government doing their job.
