Senate approves first climate treaty in decades

Technically, this is an amendment to the existing Montreal Protocol, rather than a new Treaty, but nonetheless it received the necessary 2/3rd’s majority in the Senate for advice and consent to ratification. President Biden will likely direct the formal ratification shortly.

Business interests, led by the United States Chamber of Commerce joined with environmental interests and ensured that a sufficient number of Republican Senators voted to advise and consent to ratification.

This Treaty requires member nations to reduce their hydrofluorocarbon emissions dramatically.

seems reasonable

Happy to see a fairly bi-partisan bill move forward.
