Federal agents and members of ICE launched a five-day crackdown on MS-13 gang members in New Jersey this week; rounding up multiple illegal immigrants over convictions including sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, kidnapping, and more.
According to Fox News, the swift operation detained people ranging from 19 to 78-years old, with the total number of individuals arrested consisting of 77% convicted criminals and 70% with prior felonies.
“The remarkable results of our officers and law enforcement partners highlight ICE’s ongoing commitment to public safety,” John Tsoukaris, Field Office Director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Newark, said in a statement. “This operation focuses on the arrest of individuals convicted of serious crimes and are a threat to public safety. Because of the targeted efforts of these professional officers, there are 91 fewer criminals in our communities.”
The people were detained in multiple counties throughout the state, including Atlantic, Bergen, Camden, Hudson, Passaic, Union, Warren, and more.
