Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a vocal defense of American exceptionalism during a speaking event in Kansas Friday; saying the proud history of the United States is something to be “revered” and not “revised.”

“America and Americanism is something that we’ve got to be proud of. I think sometimes some of us take things for granted. Our glorious history shouldn’t be revised. It should be revered,” said Pompeo.

“The work that our team does is noble,” Pompeo added. “We have the chance to represent this incredible nation all across the world.”

“Following his speech, Pompeo took time to answer eight questions from his audience. That audience of 875 people appreciated his willingness to take time for the Q&A,” reports KWCH local news. “Pompeo joked that his staff told him not to open it up to audience questions, but he did so anyway.”
