It behooves each state legislative action to make sure each electoral vote is cast correctly.

Aren’t you forgetting that state compact requiring them to vote with the national popular vote several states seem to want?

I know they represent their state. And if the people of that state clearly elect a candidate then that candidate should be supported by the electors. Isn’t that how a republic works?
