SCOTUS - Alito and Thomas may retire soon

And you’re speculating.

Don’t think that because McConnel pulled the slimiest political move in court history that anyone else would follow suit.

A year? It’s 122 days til Biden day.

Allan

Get real, democratic contenders were openly supporting stacking the courts.

Why?

Allam

Those dems talk talk talk. Come back when it happens.

Completely irrelevant. It is up to the Senate to decide if/when/on what schedule to take up a nomination or let it die.

Read your constitution.

No, it isn’t speculation.

Lol it is customary to have a up or down on a SCOTUS nomination.

Of course it’s relevant.

Allan

McConnell being a hypocrite is a small price to pay to put Judge Raymond Michael Kethledge on the Supreme Court where he belongs.

If it hasn’t happened then it’s speculation. It may be talked about, it may be likely, but until it’s inevitable let’s back off “it’s not speculation”.

''Customary". What do the rules of The Senate say?

Reid broke with tradition and convention long before this with his own rule changes with respect to nominations.

Customary to give SCOTUS nominations an up and down vote.

Not talking about rules.

Talking about what is customary.

Allan

Not even close.

The Radical Republicans abolished two vacant Supreme Court seats in 1866 for no other reason than to prevent President Johnson from filling them.

Slimy, maybe.

Slimiest, not even close.

And Reid decided to do away with both to get his way and you folks cheered it loudly.

Pure hypocrisy.

What SCOTUS nomination did Reid block?

Casper the friendly ghost.

You and I both know that McConnell not Reid is to blame for SCOTUS nomination being blocked.

Why mince words.

Allan

Where did I say anything about SCOTUS nominations? Cite the post.

That’s what we were talking about.

I accept your backing down with all graciousness.

Allan

Slimiest in my life time.

Those republicans sound like they would love Mitch.

Reid broke with convention, the rules, and tradition by making judicial nominations subject to a simple majority vote.

Republicans then in turn pushed back with the Garland nomination.

Simply fact.

Once again, which SCOTUS nomination did Reid block.

Circular argument since you won’t admit the truth, there was none.
