Sanctuary Counties

5 Illinois counties has declared themselves sanctuary for gun owners/rights.

Illinois state legislation is attempting to pass strict gun control laws.

Sadly

County officials say it’s unlikely their symbolic move will be enough to stop the state legislators from passing new gun control measures as the legislature is dominated by lawmakers from in and around Chicago

I think even if the state pass gun control laws the county should ignore the state and force the state to take em to court. Force it into SCOTUS hands. IMO.

Unlike immigration BS that libs love so much…guns are protected by our BoR’s,

Obviously the current gun control laws are working perfectly and have limited Chicago to only 81 shootings last week.

Effingham County’s entire budget for last year was $9.1M. Are you suggesting they waste taxpayer money on a case that will lose? The case will never make it to the supreme court… ever…

We were told the same aout Heller and McDonald.

Do you believe there is a constitutional question as to whether counties in Illinois are subordinate to the state?

I’m reminded of The Supremacy Clause we’re now being told doesn’t affect sanctuary cities and states.

Has the 2nd Amendment been incorporated?

Is your legal argument that the supremacy clause in the US constitution applies to counties? Where are these powers for counties defined in the US constitution? LMAO…

Counties fall under state jurisdiction but then if we’re going to claim cities and states are no longer subject to the Supremacy clause the same can be argued by cities and counties with respect to state laws.

There are consequences when you start pulling at strings.

LMAO… Of course there is that pesky 10th amendment that STATES argue… Are you suggesting that counties also have a 10th amendment defense? Are you starting to understand why these counties would never see the US Supreme Court?

And that argument has been settled for at least 5 decades. The supremacy clause has won. Incorporation has won.

The 10th Amendment has for all practical purposes been declared extinct.

Cracks me up how the left suddenly over the last year or so has suddenly fallen in love with it when it was they who killed it.

Really? Seems like the administration has been losing lot’s of court cases regarding sanctuary cities PRECISELY because of the 10th amendment… Now, back to your considered legal opinion that COUNTIES can somehow defy their own state’s laws… LOL… You crack me up…

Supremacy Clause has nothing to do with sanctuary cities and states. Federal law on immigration is still in effect in those cities and states. However, they cannot commandeer local law enforcement to enforce federal law.

We’ll see just how those cases go when they finally reach the SCOTUS.

LMAO… Yeah, we will see… You still think these Illinois counties will reach the US Supreme Court?

The authorities of county government arise from state law. For example counties in Connecticut and Rhode Island are not even governmental jurisdictions.

Do you not remember posting this?

Which of course is what I was replying to.

Now, directly to this question we go back to the previous.

Has the 2nd Amendment been incorporated?

Which of course is what I was replying to.

LMAO…
I think you should offer your legal services to these counties pro-bono… Should be a low cost investment given how quickly Illinois state courts will throw out any lawsuit…

I’m still waiting for a straight answer. Has the 2nd Amendment been incorporated?
