I would start with a model similar to Medicare and Medicaid. And keep private insurance available for those who feel the government plan is inadequate.

Lets not forget that medical costs began climbing within 5 years of medicare and medicaid implementation. The program has redirected money into medical care over the life of the program driving inflation of medical costs because the program sets a max amount the system will pay and then that becomes the price billed, even if the service can be provided for a profit at a lower price.

I have no problem with people having those things. Just go out and work harder get better educated, Make smarter choices in life, etc in order to achieve it.

So if you work in a retail store in Norway, you get a decent life. Good wages, vacation time, health care, maternity leave.

But not in the US.

I don’t believe there are any coverage caps on those so…With the exception of I believe no more than 190 days in hospital in a given year. I don’t see anything about limiting to generic medication or a cap on expenditures other than the hospital stay.

Yeah, but all procedures have to be preapproved, right? And my (limited) experience is, they don’t cover anything exotic or cutting edge.

But regardless, I’m find with what you described - which is essentially the public option from way back when…a bare bones insurance…which I thought was the same as MC/MC. But maybe I’m wrong.

I think it’s shameful that every american citizen can’t get a physical every year - or even every two - and can’t have a broken bone, or a stay for pneumonia covered, or other basic health care needs met.

How do you handle someone with cancer? Bills can easily exceed 100K and meaningfully extend their life.
