Sadly there’s not much chance he’ll be with us much longer but man, what a legacy to take with you to the grave.

Few people will ever made even a significant impact locally, Rush changed an entire nation and lead a conservative revival that will live far beyond himself.

He absolutely changed the nature of radio forever and inspired hundreds of millions of people spanning at least three or four generations.

I wish him the best for whatever time he has left here and he can go into the afterlife knowing he made his mark like few men before or since ever will.

I only ever smoked briefly. In college.

But I lived my first 18 years with parents who smoked 2+ packs a day. Years after they quit the house still smelled of cigarette smoke.

Lost my mom to lung cancer and my dad partly because of his emphysema.

I hear you. My dad is on the way out from COPD. The funny thing is that I didn’t realize until I went to college and came home how much my parents’ house smelled like smoke!

I hope Mr. Limbaugh is able to recover. As others said, he was an industry changer for sure.

I tried the gum and managed to only add it to my routine. I finally stopped chewing it and got myself back down to just cigarettes. I tried Chantix and dear Lord that was awful!! It worked to make smoking taste and feel awful but then I got the side effects of vivid nightmares which is a very real thing. I literally threw the rest of the bottle away.

Hopefully, this diagnosis will cause others to quit. I smoked a lot in my 20s and still do occasionally today, but I think I’ll quit for good.

Both my dad and my maternal grandmother passed away due to lung cancer. Nasty disease. Hate to see anyone go through this.

A lot of my coworkers smoke. On occasion, I’ve flicked cigarettes out of their hands or poked holes in them. It makes me a pest, but I don’t want to see any of them develop lung cancer.

Closest I came to that was when I was at a red light and saw a person flick a cigarette out the window.

I quickly got out of my car, picked it up and handed it back to him saying “Please dispose of this properly”.

In retrospect a stupid thing to do.

I found that I couldn’t do both. Yeah, I know why would you. But vaping and cigarettes aren’t the same. There’s a finish line in smoking. You put it out, and wait for the next craving. To me, the juul never ends, and I can’t find the happy medium where I’ve gotten my fix. So I end up even more dependent on nicotine because my intake goes up. Add that to my mind saying “just smoke that cigarette and you’ll be done.” and it actually just made me want to chain smoke. Conversely, it did help me quit, (presently) because I got tired of the cycle. So I guess you could say it helped by pissing me off?

Haha. I hear you. I doubled my nicotine intake by ripping through to catrigdes while letting myself still smoke cigarettes. The first day I had about 7, the next day 3, the third day I couldnt stomach them anymore.

People inhale cigarettes, so why not cigars? When it comes to inhaling cigars, there’s no specific rule, and the fact is, a number of cigar smokers do inhale as well as retrohale. In the latter case, you puff on your cigar and blow the smoke out your nose. In some cases, retrohaling results in a very peppery, nose-bending, eye-opening experience. On the other hand, it can help you discover flavors that you may not taste by simply puffing and expelling the smoke. As for inhaling cigar smoke, that’s another story.

But Rush claims he never inhaled, so I give you that, but he spoke fondly of William F. Buckley always doing so like “a real man”. However, he was a ~14 year smoker before that, from when he was 16 (1968) to around 1982. He also denied/downplayed smoking leading to lung cancer for both secondhand and firsthand smokers.

It seems he has a fair bit of personal responsibility here.

My parents both were heavy smokers from their late teens. Mom quit a couple of years ago, dad still smokes. Both are now 80 and have outlived many who never smoked.
