Roger Stone Was Approached by Russian offering Hillary Dirt for $2 Million

The guy had FBI ties. He was approaching the campaign with supposed ‘dirt’ for sale. Why was someone who had worked with the FBI trying to sell ‘dirt’ to a political campaign? Stone did the right thing here by telling him to get bent.

The Russians wanted to pick up $2M by selling information on Hillary Clinton? That is sort of ridiculous that Russia is making money that way when they supposedly were offering billions to get sanctions removed. Surely Stone would have realized at the time the whole thing was nonsense. Most likely some con man.

But he lied about it… on numerous occasions. If he thought it was suspicious, why didn’t he report it?

What did he lie about? Clearly that wasn’t some Russian representative.

So Trump’s people didn’t buy it.
But Hillary’s people did. Thus… “the dossier” was born. Oh yes… as is always the case with the very best lies, the real dirty lies are mixed in with a few truths… and so libs belieeeeeevvva…

Who do you report a suspected FBI informant you believe is trying a sting on you to?

Caputo told CNN he communicated with Greenberg by phone, and while he recognized that Greenberg had an accent, Caputo “assumed he was a US citizen.”
“It was May 2016,” Caputo added. “Nobody was talking about Russia, collusion, etc.”

So, if someone has an accent are we to assume they are foreign nationals? Can ICE do that?

Very strange.

If nothing happened… then why did he lie about it?

What did he say under oath that made this a lie?

I never said it was “under oath”

But good try.

See, this thread is a perfect example of why this country needed Donald Trump. Apparently the Russians knew they could get 12 Million out of Democrats for a new hammer to beat Trump up with while Republicans would typically only pay 2 million. Thank God Trump realized he didn’t have to spend 2 million on a new hammer when he could just pick up the old used hammer for free and pound away with it because everything about Hillary was already old, used and beat up.

You’re getting your information from…Roger Stone?

What the hell are you talking about?

There is no evidence “Greenberg” had any connection to the FBI. That comes from Stone and Michael Caputo, who lied to Congress about this contact and are trying to stay out of jail.

Stone and Caputo, who did not previously disclose the meeting to congressional investigators, now say they believe they were the targets of a setup by U.S. law enforcement officials hostile to Trump.

They cite records — independently examined by The Post — showing that the man who approached Stone is actually a Russian national who has claimed to work as an FBI informant.

Interviews and additional documents show that Greenberg has at times used the name Henry Oknyansky. Under that name, he claimed in a 2015 court filing related to his immigration status that he had provided information to the FBI for 17 years. He attached records showing that the government had granted him special permission to enter the United States because his presence represented a “significant public benefit.”

There is no evidence that Greenberg was working with the FBI in his interactions with Stone, and in his court filing, Greenberg said he had stopped his FBI cooperation sometime after 2013.

Greenberg, in text messages with The Post, denied that he had been acting on the FBI’s behalf when he met with Stone.

Both Stone and Michael Caputo forgot to mention this during their Congressional testimony.

There’s a lot of moving parts to this, but Marcy Wheeler does a good job of unpacking what is being orchestrated here. All Nunes is trying to do is figure out what Mueller knows or doesn’t know about Stone et al’s efforts at colluding with Russians for the Trump campaigns benefit. The rubes will fall for it too.

So let’s unpack what’s going on here, aside from a really well orchestrated campaign that has been in the works since January.

First, note how Nunes twists the meaning of counterintelligence here? When discussing why the FBI obtained a FISA order on Carter Page, whom FBI suspected was a willing Russian asset going back to 2013 and whom FBI had questioned the same month Trump added him to the campaign, as part of those ongoing concerns, Nunes suggests FISA orders are only used on terrorists and international bad guys, not people who’ve been suspected of being Russian assets for years. But later in the appearance, he treats the formal start of the counterintelligence investigation into Russians infiltrating Trump’s campaign — the counterintelligence investigation (he is now using counterintelligence in its traditional sense) — as if any investigation of Page or Manafort on their own right before that would be corrupt.

Then Nunes moves to suggest that a Russian contact that Mueller may have only discovered after he obtained a warrant for Stone’s phone on March 9 — a contact that both Caputo and Stone lied to the committee about — is something the FBI has been hiding, not Caputo and Stone.

In an appearance providing a slew of non-public information about a long series of contacts, Nunes accuses Rosenstein for once doing the same thing, with the important difference that Rosenstein was correcting the false claims that Nunes was presenting to the press.

And out of all that — out of Nunes’ willingness to blame the FBI for Stone and Caputo’s lies to his own committee — Nunes is going to bring an impeachment case against Rosenstein and Wray.

Obviously, there’s an easy way for Rosenstein and Wray to defuse this, in more of the bend don’t break approach they’ve been using with these extortionists. They could explain what I have surmised: that the materials about the contact with “Greenberg” that Stone and Caputo lied to him about actually came pursuant to a grand jury search warrant based on information Rick Gates provided in February and March. This is probably a grand jury search warrant (or one similar) that Paul Manafort already tried to, but failed, to get unsealed. As far as we know, Rosenstein and Wray haven’t provided any grand jury material to HPSCI.

Of course, providing the background to this question would require providing more details about what Mueller does and doesn’t know about Roger Stone’s efforts to conspire with Russians during the election.

That’s the hostage situation that Nunes is creating here: Impeachment or details about what Mueller knows of Roger Stone’s conspiracy with Russians to obtain dirt on Hillary Clinton.

That Hillary and the DNC paid 12 million for the fake Russian intel in the dossier is established fact. Denial won’t help, excuses won’t change the fact. They paid it.

Probably from CNN:

“Greenberg, who the Post said sometimes went by the name Henry Oknyansky, had difficulties with the American immigration system, and spent two years in the custody of immigration services before returning to Russia. In 2015 court filings related to his immigration status cited by Stone and Caputo, Greenberg claimed that he worked as an FBI informant for 17 years.
However, Greenberg denied he was acting on the FBI’s behalf when he met with Stone, according to the Post, and the court filing the newspaper obtained said his work with the FBI halted sometime after 2013.”

So either “Greenberg” either had a history as an FBI informant, was a nut, or both.
If a nut, then why was he allowed to stay in the country after making those claims?

Good job on posting information that “Greenberg” was not acting with the FBI on this.

Joke? He may or may not have been. Unless you are willing to trust Greenburg based on his history of honesty.
