“Republicans, get it out of your mind that you’re going to vote for this guy because he’s conservative. He’s not. For those of you that want to vote because you think he’s an anti-vaxxer, he’s not really an anti-vaxxer. That’s only his political moment. So, RFK, his views on vaccines are fake, as is everything else about his candidacy.”
This is insane. The “anti-vaxxer” demographic is now a constituency that the GOP explicitly competes to please. And notorious long-term crackpot RFK, Jr. is . . . not a big or sincere enough whackadoo to earn Republican votes.
It’s hard to overstate this: it was a genuine accomplishment. Period. No subtext. That’s not faint praise. But because of Cleek’s law and the grotesque state of the GOP, not only can he not take credit for (in his words) “one of the greatest achievements of mankind”, he also has to out-crackpot one of the country’s premier anti-vax idiots.
If you’re a Republican, doesn’t the self-evident incoherence of that give you pause? It’s also weird that he helped accomplish this, but his lack of actual leadership ability makes him unable to own it. Instead, he follows the dumbest whims of the base to maintain the flow of endorphins.
I have always credited Trump with the speed of which vaccines were developed and approved, and yes his actions did help to save potentially hundreds of thousands if not millions of people.
Its insane he is not making this the crowning achievement of his administration.
I think I had 3. I was grateful it was there. Remember the hordes of old people pushing each other to the ground to be first in line? Lol
No COVID for me. I have not gotten any further vax because I have such an extreme reaction to them and the disease seems to have eased and medicine is better at treating it now.
