It is a pity that Netanyahu is likely too arrogant to take such a deal.

President Reuven Rivlin of Israel would likely offer Netanyahu a full pardon if:

  1. He immediately resigns from the Knesset and from Likud.
  2. He fully confesses to his crimes.
  3. He pledges to permanently retire from politics and public life.

Such a deal would benefit Israel. With Netanyahu gone, Benny Gantz could likely form a unity government led by Blue and White and joined by Likud as junior partner. Israel likely would avoid a third election in a year.

If Netanyahu cared for Israel’s welfare, he would take this deal and quietly retire into obscurity.
