I dig the lyrics, but the music is sub par

It’s definitely one of their weaker songs musically speaking. But I really love the main solo. That helps make up for the boring main riff to me.

I have noticed in the comments sections in such places as Yahoo ā€œNewsā€ posters are treating the nuclear threat risk incredibly lightly, much less than in the old Soviet Cold War. You even see posts about how the US can blow up Russia in a few hours if they get out of hand.
The problem, of course, is that it goes both ways. You don’t have to have an effective military supported by a strong economy to blow up the world. You just need nuclear weapons.

Not sure yahoo comments existed during the Cold War

A little facetious but the point is that it’s not really obvious what general public commentary like that back in the day. Hard fo compare

the song is fine, but as far as ā€œwarā€ songs by Maiden go, Aces High is their best imho

Yes, but maybe…maybe it is Where Eagles Dare. I find my opinion changes dependant on which song that I am listening to.

Can’t forget about The Trooper.

Or Paschendale either.

Iron Maiden is just great in general. They aren’t my favorite metal band but I find all of their songs to be enjoyable. They are pretty consistent at least in my opinion.

Trooper is the same to me musically as Two Minutes…meh. But lyrically, it is once again on point.

But Paschendale is outstanding. One of only two songs on that album worth a damn

ugh, Dance of Death is mostly unlistenable. Paschendale is a gem in that mess though.

Perhaps we need to make an exception to the nuclear test ban treaty and invite world leaders and media to witness a nuclear explosion in person. Some of the cockiness may disappear.

Middling? Please.

(Musically uncultured neophytes grumble grumble)

I stand by my assessment. Good lyrics, mediocre music.

Well, at least now we know when it is going to happen: November 23, 2023 at 6:05pm, when Russia launches an attack against Germany.

In the silver lining department, that is Thanksgiving Day here in America, so you can cancel your travel plans.

For the record, Kim Dotcom lives in New Zealand.

Was ā€œOn the Beachā€ set 60 years too early?

Nuclear winter will be a global problem. Even in Hobbiton.

ā€œOn the Beachā€ reaches a similar ending, even in Australia, but the possibility of surviving a nuclear exchange is arguably much better in the southern hemisphere.
