Didn’t always agree with him (especially his endorsement of Kamala Harris), but he was a great man regardless.
RIP, Dick.
24 hour countdown starts now.
Countdown?
Yeah…I saw it too.
My first thought was he did live a loooong life after a very complicated and costly heart transplant.
Something only elite could aford.
Same like Ginsburg, fought Cancers for decades, 4 -5 different types, only because she COULD aford it.
This is something I have a problem with in the land of milk and honey. That and " Equal under the Law " mirage.
Look at the Obama’s ACA, swindled into a law by a crafty snake-oil salesman, and now that he is far and long out of office it comes back to bite the country in the behind big time.
And there is nobody to be held accountable for a con like that.
So much for the Freedom we enjoy in this country.
Everywhere I look I see corruption and con, all kinds of size and color.
It’s probably wise not to say anything derogatory about a man who just passed away.
After my condemnation of those who celebrated Kirk’s death it would be hypocritical to celebrate the passing. Suffice to say, I shall not mourn.
May his memory be a blessing to his family. He lived a remarkable life.
exactly, +1
Allan
What a guy, right? RIP.
Rest In Peace
Riposa in pace.
Probably the most influential vice president who ever held the office. He defined Bush era policy in a way no other VP has ever done.
A truly fascinating individual.
Yes his influence on American foreign policy post 9-11 is undeniable.
For good or bad he was one of the most influential VPs ever.
It’s interesting to me that he’s more or less an outlier in the history of the VP. Most VPs are only there for electability reasons of their presidential running mates and then they break ties in the senate and do PR. They don’t do much policy wise.
Cheney was not that sort of VP. Like him or hate him he defined policy even more heavily than the president he served under did. I’ve always argued that from 2001-2009 Cheney was the actual president when it came to policy initiatives.
And it’s kind of funny that he was such a one off in that regard. The VPs who followed him, Biden, Pence, Harris, and Vance, went back in the old style VP box. In American government history, typically when someone breaks barriers like Cheney did the ones who follow after them tend to do the same thing or even push it further. But that didn’t happen with the VP office. And I don’t really understand how it turned out like that considering the history of the American government.
Feels like the end of an era.
He worked hard, harder than most, to advance what he believed was the national interest.
I never questioned that motivation and to that extent I think he was a patriot.
But I know others may disagree.
He was most certainly a Patriot. He made mistakes for sure, and I think his worldview clouded his judgement a lot. But there’s no doubt in my mind he loved America and wanted to protect her.
Survived five heart attacks, if I’m not mistaken. A remarkable life, to say the least.
RIP.
Rest in Peace, VP Cheney.
A remarkable career, a great family man.
Fair reply.

Goodbye to a great American. The right man, at the right time, for the right job. Politically astute and brilliant. Truly, a historical figure.
