shrug Things have moved on since then.

How is it that you have dyslexia and “read just fine”? Dyslexia by definition means a disorder in reading.

They call dyslexia the MIT disease because so many students there have it.

Now what must people can’t comprehend like the poster you were responding too is this. While I may be below normal on my writing skills and can read with relative high comprehension rate. But yet my IQ is well above average…not to brag. Like I’ve said I’ve been tested multiple times.

So how can that be you might ask? Well I’m using other parts of my brain to make up for my weakness.

So let say average IQ is 100 but someone with dyslexic has 120…but he or she reading and writing abilities is like someone with 85/90. That mean that that individual has accelerating far from normal using other parts of his or her brain…one that normal people aren’t using.

That’s were creativity come in, why they’re able to solve problems where a normal thinking person can’t, it’s why some of greatest artist is able to create great works of art…where they’re able to see, think three dimensional.

I feel sorry for most of em…they don’t know what they’re missing sometimes.

Conan,
Have you ever read the gift of dyslexia. It is an amazing book that helped me immensely. It taught me how to get passed the visual thinking issues that cause a person with Dyslexia to fail. As a visual thinker I can visualize a computer, a cat, a dog…but what the hell does a the or and look like in my mind. I think about the same rate as a motion picture or film It is about 16 frames per second…or 32…I can’t remember. So I am going along and reading words…and then all of a sudden an and or but or a the comes in and my brain spends milliseconds or seconds trying to come up with a picture and then it starts to reverse the order of the words in my minds eye…and I get all jumbled up. The larger the print the better I can read.

Anyway, it is a great read and yes…it can be read. LOL

Not interested in taking drugs.

I’ll deal with my situations with clear head and mind.

Ah, so you don’t take vaccines or antibiotics then,

Read the last post just prior to this one. I have gotten help, and have learned to master things. Yes, it is a reading disorder. I had a hard time in grade school, but I had a mom who was a school teacher who pushed me harder and harder to overcome. I learned tricks to increase my comprehension. But I could never read out loud. It was broken and I would have hard time sounding out words…not because I couldn’t read…My minds eye was trying to figure out a picture for the word I was reading…so I could comprehend it better. The next post I type here will have no corrections I will type it just the way it comes out. You will see my dyslexia even in the way I type. It’s ridiculous

For those that don’t know what he’s talking about.

Take a tablet and instead of writing word you draw out images of those words on one page at a time until you have 10 or more pages. Starting with you last of your sentence on first page.

Then flip through it. That’s example how we read sometimes.

Now I’m going to say something that might offend people here, I hope it’s not TOS violation but I’m doing this to explain example in how some of us think/see as we read.

When a person say you’re a racist. or you’re a queer, or a word that “some” people call black Americans. You’re setting up image that is very similar. The same shadow image comes up whether its racist, queer or other derogatory words you may use.

I get a cartoonist sketch of angry hateful expression of a face.

Ahahaaahahaa.

When you’re the prez of the US, and you’re given reading material to go over in crisis people need to know you have the ability to understand what you’ve been given, not bluff your way through it.

And the American public deserves to know about it.

You’ve said that part about MIT students before, but have provided no proof. Please do that if you have it.

Dylslexia occurs at all points along the IQ scale, I know it’s trendy to say that they are all highly intelligent.

Dyslexics have processing deficits in language, auditory memory, and/or orthographic processing (visual perception of text/numbers). They may or may not have advanced abilities in other areas.

Please tell me that this is the onion.

Good for you. It’s a lifelong condition for those who have it, and most folks just have to find ways to compensate/work around it, like you seem to have done.

One of my friends is dyslexic, and he can barely spell his own last name. With technology, you would hardly know it.
