Was never a big fan. But growing up in the Chicago Area he has always been in the news, always controversial, and always drove home whatever point he was making with force. Rest in Peace…
That’s one hell of a thing to be alive in the 2020’s and be able to say you walked with Martin Luther King Jr.
The 20th century is dying on a 24 hour news cycle.
I never thought of it that way. But yeah he stood with MLK and lived another 60 years
All the best to his family, friends and supporters.
It’s like me one minute I’m a teenager going to the new bands concert at the time my chemical romance. And now just last year, I went back as a 40 year old to their reunion tour and they look all bloated and over the hill. Time flies is and understatement. The same when I went to see blink-182 it was like yesterday they were huge today. They look like the history professor in college.
I read and article the other day that made feel old sin. This year will be the 27th anniversary of the launch of the Sega Dreamcast. I remember my dad bringing one to my grandparents house for my birthday gift because my birthday was only a few days after it released and he got me one on pre order. I was reading the retrospective and said “holy ■■■■ I’m old.”
i turned 10 that year. I owe my taste in music to the Dreamcast honestly. My grandparents were real hardcore Protestant folk so we never had any modern music playing in the house. Just gospel and country music. Some old old rock music like Elvis and Buddy Holly sometimes. The Sonic Adventure and Dead or Alive 2 soundtrack is what really got me into rock and metal music. I used to turn the Dreamcast on and go one of those game’s sound test menu and play the entire soundtrack from start to finish while I did homework every night.
also they did not buy me Dead or Alive 2. That game was super adult oriented and hella Japanese. My dad got it for me because he knew I liked fighting games. I always had to keep the remote next to me so I could turn the tv off when my grandparents walked to my room due to how every female character in that game was hella stacked and wore the skimpiest bikini possible without getting a nudity clause on the rating.
Really brings extra meaning to that Ozzy osbourne lyric from Crazy Train. “Heirs of the Cold War, that’s what we’ve become.”
Makes you wonder how long King would have lived had he not been assassinated.
RIP Jesse. He was definitely a force to reckon with.
Say what you will about His last 20-30 years, but his positive impact on civil rights is undeniable. Now he gets reunited with King and other leaders.
RIP Rev Jesse Jackson
Two stand out moments. Young Jesse Jackson on sesame street leading the kids on an I am somebody affirmation. And reading Green Eggs and Ham on weekend update on SNL. He was a good sport about that for sure, but he killed it.
■■■■ him good riddance
That’s a bit cold. I had my issues with Brother Jackson but I still think he did more good than harm.
If this doesn’t give you a smile nothing will…
You can’t fool me. That’s beetle juice.
