One of the great achievements of our time has passed. The plucky, spirited robot that showed us the surface of Mars has been declared lost.
Perhaps someday man himself shall touch Opportunity’s grave, and bring him back.

Why waste the delta-v bringing it back?
A computer on wheels can be neither plucky nor spirited.
A great engineering achievement for sure but the anthropomorphism is silly.
Hopefully man will follow in the next decade or so.
