Salinger was a gutless coward.

If not for people willing to die for a cause the US would never have existed.

Absolutely true. It’s not about Trump so much as about every election from here on out. Were the rioters and so-called peaceful protestors championing a cause or did they all genuinely like the ones killed by police?

This post actually very deeply goes into the mindset of liberals.

Ask Ghandi.

You don’t think the President should care about the citizens of their country?

FIGHT for a cause with the risk of death is noble.
DYING for a cause doesn’t do you much good.

That has little to do with who the president is.

Salinger fought at Utah Beach and the Bulge. He was no coward.

Well at some point he had an epiphany that changed him or he’d never have said it.

Without people willing to die for a cause little or nothing of value would have ever been accomplished in this world.

Christ is the ultimate example of that.

Semantics.

Yup. when all legal actions fail, take the presidency by force. That’s the new American way as the founders intended. I don’t think any intelligent trump supportrs will go that far.

Oh no. Don’t get it twisted. What Trump is doing now, has nothing to do with the ideals and foundations of the United States of America. It has everything to do with his ego.

True, the key is to make the other guy die for his cause.

You should read Hegel… “philosophy of history”.

The great leaders ( the world historical heros) are great because their personal wants/drives/needs/desires are congruent with the the needs of “pregnant history” that is ready to deliver a new era.

“Caring” might be relevant or not. It depends on what the new baby needs in order to be born. Those who fight against history and its midwife (AKA… World historical hero) will simply be spitting into the wind.

Well yeah, caring is fine but I don’t think we should look to the government as some kind of “Daddy” figure that we can use to protect us from bullies or to punish those we disagree with.
Many on the left absolutely see government as “Big Daddy” that stands up for their pet causes that the majority consider weird at best.

Actually that’s exactly what the founders did.

When they had exhausted all legal avenues in seeking redress with The King, they started a revolution and split from England.

The United States is born of blood and fire.

A sad, pathetic existence indeed.

Darn. Hilary should have used this line in 2016. That would have been something.
