Republican Primary Debate 2023

I hope with this OP to discuss who made the best points, who won, who did the worst, and rank them.

Maybe the worst and next worst, best and next best.

Also, who made you angry…
Poll doesn’t include Christie, Hutchinson or Burgum. Not allowed more than 5, and I left them out because I could only put 5, if you like one of them, vote in the 2nd poll, we can all do math…I think…

  • Desantis
  • Ramaswamy
  • Scott
  • Haley
  • Pence

0 voters

This poll id for those who wanted to vote for these in the above poll:

  • Burgum
  • Christie
  • Hutchinson

0 voters

I’ll start with my opinion who did best and worst:

1st: Ramaswamy
2nd: Desantis
3rd: Scott
4th: Burgum
5th: Haley
6th: Pence
7th: Hutchinson
8th: Christie

  1. Burgum
  2. Ramaswamy
  3. Desantis
  4. Scott
  5. Haley

I voted for Burgum for #1 winner. He wasn’t in the OP

He’s in the lower poll.

I am still contemplating this.

Burgum made a very good point about the the 10th Amendment and abortion, being the Federal Government should mind its own business.

I sided with Haley over Pence on the “consensus vs leadership” spat.

I work in the corporate world as a leader, but I build consensus whenever possible. Consensus IS a part of leadership.

While I do respect Pence more than many other Republicans, his insistence on a national abortion law is a highway to hell for Republicans.

Ramaswamy is just playing the populist clown show card.

I support Scott on some issues, but unfortunately he is also stuck on the trainwreck of abortion.

Not impressed with DeSantis or Christie.

At this point, probably between Burgum and Haley, but will think on it a bit farther.

Had to miss it. So I’m getting clips + 100% spin. Like, Bill Mitchell and pro-DeSantis types think DeSantis was awesome. But Trump people and Ramaswamy people think DeSantis sucked.

Meanwhile, everyone hates Chris Christie and he’s going with it by doing some sort of Don Rickles thing.

No idea how Doug Burgum got up there. Looks like he may have wandered in accidentally.

I wish Mike Pence would give the base some straight talk, preferably in a sentence that begins, “I know some of you wanted to hang me, but . . . “

Didn’t get to see much Scott. Haley sounds quasi-sane, but then affirms that she’ll vote for Trump, even if he’s convicted.

One thing that was glaring was that note one Candidate on that stage said anything about the loss in Maui.
Big mistake.
And now I do appreciate the line; "I have met a lot of people who think that Ron DeSantis could be POTUS.
And then I have met people who have met Ron DeSantis.

I would go with #1 Haley, #2 Burgum, with Ramaswamy dead last and DeSantis close to dead last.

Check that.

I would place the cowardly little chicken ■■■■ weasel who did not even have the balls to show up dead last.

So Ramaswamy and DeSantis both move up a notch by default.

I thought Christie was the most “human”. He’s the only person on that stage that I would have a beer with. However he spent most of his time laying into Trump… MAGA did not like that.

Haley came off as the most sane. But I know she has some extreme positions.

Vivek is just positioning himself to get the MAGA vote. He doesn’t have an identity yet. However he definitely had the most charisma. He might be a force once he settles in over the next 4-8 years.

Desaintis is very awkward and never once answered a question directly. He tries to come off as a tough guy but he just doesn’t have it. I thought Pence came off tougher than Ron.

Pence, naturally, sounded the most presidential but he has no chance nationally because of his abortions positions and not aiding with Trump.

Everyone else was equally bad.

Larry Elder was the winner by default.

I require an anti war policy.

Didn’t watch debate or Tucker.

I like DeSantis but I am not sure if he is ready yet he still seems a bit unpolished. I personally thought Ramaswamy had the best message although I would have liked all of them to chime in more on government spending.

It would be nice to hear a Ron Paul type message again which got me into politics in 2008 preaching fiscal responsibility and less military spending and war mongering.

Really surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for the this first debate anywhere on social media. I wonder if people are tired of this format.

There was a debate last night? About what? Who’ll be Trump’s running mate? :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

More eyes will be on the “Trump surrenders in Atlanta” today.
I know I want to see Fulton County Sheriff Buford T. Justus make good on his promise of mug shooting, handcuffing and perp walking Trump. Does that local yokel know Trump has US Secret Service protection?
LOL, ■■■■ show coming.
