California is poised to allow convicted felons to serve on juries; a controversial move that would permit those with criminal records to decide the fate of their peers in courtrooms across the state.

“SB310 will help ensure that California juries represent a fair cross-section of our communities…People with felony records have the right to vote in California. There is no legitimate reason why they should be barred from serving on a jury,” said state Sen. Nancy Skinner of Berkeley.

“Currently, felons are prevented from serving on juries because of their obvious and inherent bias against prosecutors and law enforcement,” reports the Orange County Record. “If you honestly believe that jurors in California who’ve served time won’t be more lenient towards accused criminals, I’ve got a bullet train to sell you.”

The bill comes days after the state legislature voted to “guarantee medical coverage” to “low-income illegal immigrants” residing in California; costing more than $98 million per year.

“In a stance to distance itself from President Trump’s administration, California is set to become the first state in the country to pay for tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to have full health benefits,” reports Fox News.

“Under an agreement between Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats in the state legislature, low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 25 living in California illegally would be eligible for California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal. The deal emerged as part of a broader $213 billion budget,” adds the article.

The plan would go into effect in January 2020. The proposal would also give a family of four earning $150,000 or less $100 per month to help subsidize healthcare costs.

“While it’s not all we sought, it will provide a real tangible difference for people, especially for those around and below poverty and for middle income families who don’t get any help under the federal law,” said the Executive Director of Health Access.

Far-left Governor Gavin Newsom “welcomed women seeking abortions” to visit California last Friday after Louisiana became the latest conservative state to pass pro-life legislation that limits abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

“Newsom signed Friday what he calls a ‘Proclamation on Reproductive Freedom.’ He says it reaffirms the state’s commitment to protecting women’s reproductive choices, educates Californians about their rights to reproductive freedom, and welcomes women to the state to exercise that right,” reports CBS Sacramento.

“Among other things, the proclamation talks about reproductive services already available to California women, including state-funded abortion services for low-income women,” adds the article.
