Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., perpetuates the fraudulent and deceptive Fair Tax con

Here is the latest fluff article on the alleged FairTax, compliments of our lazy and useless print media.

Opinion: Biden wastes no time attacking GOP FairTax plan (ajc.com)

1/19/2023

“The most interesting development was how the White House wasted no time ridiculing the FairTax, trying to make it a political millstone around the neck of every GOP lawmaker.

“It would raise taxes on the middle class by taxing thousands of everyday items from groceries to gas, while cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans,” said President Biden, who issued a veto threat.”

It’s not that Biden is worried about the FairTax becoming law. Instead, this was more of an easy opportunity to accuse Republicans of raising taxes on working Americans.”

So, as is usual, we find a journalist is more interested in irrelevant political partisan nonsense than actually reporting on the fraudulent and deceptive nature of the FairTax proposal, which has “deep Georgia roots” as pointed out in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution article by Jamie Dupree, author of the article.

Wouldn’t it be more productive to report what the alleged FairTax would and wouldn’t do? For example, the FairTax:

creates an entirely new tax, a 23 percent tax on articles of consumption, and on “taxable property”;

creates two new tax collecting agencies, an “Excise Tax Bureau” and the “Sales Tax Bureau", in addition to keeping the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms alive, which will also be collecting taxes.

Imposes the new 23% “FairTax” on American citizens and businesses while Congress’ power to lay and collect taxes on “incomes” remains fully intact;

requires taxpayers to file Fair Tax returns twelve times a year;

requires ordinary working people to register with government in order to exercise a fundamental right of mankind . . . selling the property each has in their own labor;

requires ordinary people to become tax collectors for government;

requires taxpayers to keep whatever records Congress may dream up;

allows Congress to lay and collect countless “excise taxes” which members of Congress may dream up, and are calculated from profits, gains and other incomes;

and creates a new entitlement, the “Family Consumption Allowance” [a monthly government check sent to every “qualified family” in the U.S.] that would become another political partisan wedge-issue used during election time to buy votes.

Why on earth would any politician, regardless of their political party affiliation, support this rope-a-dope proposal which enlarges and strengthens the federal government’s iron taxing grip around their constituents’ necks?

And why does our popular media, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, totally ignore the FairTax counter proposal ___ the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment___ which would return us to our Constitution’s original tax plan, as our founders intended it to operate, and would impose needed and necessary restraints upon Congress’ current suicidal taxing, spending and borrowing activities?

When Federal Reserve Notes were made a legal tender in violation of our Constitution, and a direct un-apportioned tax was imposed upon the people without their consent, America’s free enterprise, free market system was subjugated, and the tools of oppression were made available to some very immoral and nefariously evil people.

This seems to confirm our Republican Congress and Freedom Caucus members are very much part of the Washington Establishment’s never-ending push to enlarge and consolidate power in their hands.

My pet question goes unanswered:

Why on earth would any freedom loving, Republican member of Congress, support the rope-a-dope FairTax Act proposal which, if adopted, enlarges and strengthens the federal government’s iron fisted taxing grip around the American people’s necks?

.
I see the Republican Leadership in the House is still promoting a fraudulent and deceptive tax reform idea which would actually enlarge the federal government’s taxing authority. And our popular media is cleverly covering up what the FairTax scheme would actually do.

By Katie Lobosco, CNN, Mon January 23, 2023

"The Republicans’ Fair Tax Act is not a new idea. A version was first introduced in Congress in 1999. It’s never had enough support to become law, but it puts forth an appealing message to those Americans who love to hate the federal tax agency.

It would get rid of the complicated federal tax system, doing away with the annual task of filing tax returns. Instead, the bill would replace federal taxes on individual and corporate income with a national 23% sales tax …"

Of course, Katie Lobosco of CNN misrepresents and does not report that the “FairTax” plan, if adopted, would increase the annual tax return filing to twelve fricking times a year! [“CHAPTER 5, OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS, SEC. 501. MONTHLY REPORTS AND PAYMENTS].

Why do they continue to lie about the FairTax?

Once again, the “FairTax” is misrepresented. This time by Adam Hardy,

image

Money.com, author of the following article

See:

Adam Hardy, author of the article, asserts:

“However, the act proposes much more than dismantling the IRS, and the framework has been around for decades. In its current iteration, the Fair Tax Act would get rid of every type of current federal tax — including payroll, self-employment, estate, death and corporate taxes — and replace them with a nationwide 23% retail tax that happens at the checkout counter for new goods and services.”

The truth is, the FairTax does not “. . . get rid of every type of current federal tax — .”

For example, under the alleged FairTax, the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, subtitle E (relating to alcohol, tobacco, and certain other excise taxes) is simply redesignated as subtitle C and will still be collected by the newly created “Excise Tax Bureau”, while the newly created “Sales Tax Bureau” will be collecting the new 23 percent tax on articles of consumption and upon “taxable property” which is also taxed under the alleged FairTax.

I know it takes time to dig through the weasel wording of the alleged FairTax Act, but those who report on it, should take the time to study it before making inaccurate statements concerning it.

Had Adam Hardy done his job and studied the Bill, he would have found “SEC. 302. ADMINISTRATION OF OTHER FEDERAL TAXES”…

(a) IN GENERAL. — Section 7801 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to the authority of the Department of the Treasury) is amended by adding at the end the following:

“(d) EXCISE TAX BUREAU. — There shall be in the Department of the Treasury an Excise Tax Bureau to administer those excise taxes not administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“(e) SALES TAX BUREAU. — There shall be in the Department of the Treasury a Sales Tax Bureau to administer the national sales tax in those States where it is required pursuant to section 404, and to discharge other Federal duties and powers relating to the national sales tax (including those required by sections 402, 403, and 405). The Office of Revenue Allocation shall be within the Sales Tax Bureau."

As I previously pointed out, contrary to Adam Hardy’s assertion, the FairTax does not “. . . get rid of every type of current federal tax — .”

We are here today and gone tomorrow, but what is most important is what we do in-between and is what our children will inherit and remember us by.

Even the Wall Street Journal’s Editorial Board, misrepresents the FairTax Act.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-gops-fair-tax-masochism-kevin-mccarthy-buddy-carter-house-republicans-sales-tax-11674248654

“The plan is called the Fair Tax and its premise is simple: Replace every existing federal tax with a new national tax on sales.”

Seems that the nitwittery, or perhaps laziness by the WSJ’s Editorial Board, is a common characteristic of today’s popular media.

As documented HERE, the FAIRTAX ACT would not "Replace every existing federal tax with a new national tax on sales”, nor does the legislation remotely suggest it would. So why is this factually inaccurate representation constantly being asserted about the FairTax?

This same misrepresentation was constantly reported in the 1990s when the fair tax was introduced. And it was totally false then as it is now. So why has it been misrepresented all these years [about 25 years], and continues, to this very date, to be misrepresented by our mainstream media?

Something very suspicious seems to be afoot when our popular media act in concert and falsely report, for so many years, that the FairTax would “Replace every existing federal tax with a new national tax on sales.”

Good news . . .

https://news.yahoo.com/kevin-mccarthy-disavows-30-percent-071657725.html

Why is this good news you ask? I say so because of what the FairTax would do if adopted.

If the FAIRTAX ACT were passed into law it:

creates two new tax collecting agencies, an “Excise Tax Bureau” and the “Sales Tax Bureau", in addition to keeping the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms alive, which will also be collecting taxes.

Imposes the new 23% “FairTax” on American citizens and businesses while Congress’ power to lay and collect taxes on “incomes” remains fully intact;

requires taxpayers to file Fair Tax returns twelve times a year;

requires ordinary working people to register with government in order to exercise a fundamental right of mankind . . . selling the property each has in their own labor;

requires ordinary people to become tax collectors for government;

requires taxpayers to keep whatever records Congress may dream up;

allows Congress to lay and collect countless “excise taxes” which members of Congress may dream up, and could be calculated from profits, gains and other incomes;

creates a new entitlement, the “Family Consumption Allowance” [a monthly government check sent to every “qualified family” in the U.S.] that would become another political partisan wedge-issue used during election time to buy votes in addition to making an enormously large segment of those who vote extremely dependent upon government to access their monthly necessities of life.

So now we know why Kevin McCarthy’s position is “good news”!

Why on earth would any politician, especially a conservative leader such as Kevin McCarthy, after studying the proposed legislation, support this dastardly evil proposal which would enlarge and strengthen the federal government’s iron fisted taxing grip around the American peoples’ necks?

JWK

We are here today and gone tomorrow, but what is most important is what we do in between and is what our children will inherit and remember us by.

Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) says he was never a co-sponsor of the FairTax Act Bill. Take my name off of it!

I see Rep. Buddy Carter has yet to address a number of very real concerns should the FairTax Act be adopted.

Although Buddy Carter presents a piece titled Myth v. Fact: The FairTax Act, nowhere does he address how the proposed legislation would actually increase the federal government’s taxing capabilities, and cause more miseries for the American people then they now suffer under the current evil system of taxation, if the FairTax were adopted and are listed HERE

The only reasonable explanation I can think of as to why Rep. Buddy Carter has latched onto the so-called FairTax is, that he has not studied the text of the Bill himself and is relying on one or more of his lazy staff members representations of H.R. 25 which they may have gotten from the propaganda and misrepresentations found at the fairtax web site, or in the fair tax book authored by Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder, both of whom have done a disservice to working on real tax reform.

Here is an interesting article from Forbes on the “FairTax”, which is suspiciously and woefully void of its actual provisions that document its evil expansion of powers connected to raising a federal revenue.

Rep. Buddy Carter finally admits “The FairTax is the only progressive tax reform bill currently pending before Congress.”

See:

Of course, the alleged FairTax is progressive. As listed HERE, it would, if adopted, enlarge and strengthen the federal government’s ability to increase tax revenue, impose more oppressive regulations upon the American people, and it would even create a massive voting block dependent upon the federal government for their monthly necessities of life via its new devilish entitlement called “The Family Consumption Allowance”.

One does not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out the FairTax, if adopted, would grow government to levels never before dreamed of. Of course, “The FairTax is the only progressive tax reform bill currently pending before Congress.”

Real tax reform, which would actually benefit the American people and businesses, is found in the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment, and it would accomplish what the alleged FairTax falsely advertises.

There is no “humanitarian crisis” at our southern border as erroneously reported on Fox News. And here is the latest fluff article on the alleged “FairTax” :roll_eyes:

Of course, the article avoids listing how, if adotped, it consolidates more authoritarian taxing power in the hands of our federal government, e.g it.:

creates two new tax collecting agencies, an “Excise Tax Bureau” and the “Sales Tax Bureau", in addition to keeping the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms alive, which will also be collecting taxes.

The FairTax Act: “Putting Lipstick on a Pig, Badly”

See: “Fair” tax: Terrible idea that just won’t die

Jan 28, 2023

“It was a bad idea when Neal Boortz and John Linder published The Fairtax Book (which should have been subtitled “Putting Lipstick on a Pig, Badly”) in 2005.”

.

Well, here are some of the specific Sections and links to these Sections. Seems to me you are absolutely correct. So why would any “conservative” Republican support the fraudulent and deceptive FairTax Act?

If the FairTax ACT were passed into law the following explains some of its specific provisions.

It would create two new tax collecting agencies, an “Excise Tax Bureau” and the “Sales Tax Bureau", in addition to keeping the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms alive, which will also be collecting taxes.

See: SEC. 302. ADMINISTRATION OF OTHER FEDERAL TAXES.

(a) In General.—Section 7801 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to the authority of the Department of the Treasury) is amended by adding at the end the following:
“(d) Excise Tax Bureau.—There shall be in the Department of the Treasury an Excise Tax Bureau to administer those excise taxes not administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
“(e) Sales Tax Bureau.—There shall be in the Department of the Treasury a Sales Tax Bureau to administer the national sales tax in those States where it is required pursuant to section 404, and to discharge other Federal duties and powers relating to the national sales tax (including those required by sections 402, 403, and 405). The Office of Revenue Allocation shall be within the Sales Tax Bureau.”.

It imposes a new 23% “FairTax” on “the use or consumption in the United States of taxable property or services” while Congress’ power to continue to lay and collect taxes on “incomes” remains fully intact;

See: “SEC. 101. IMPOSITION OF SALES TAX.

“(a) In General.—There is hereby imposed a tax on the use or consumption in the United States of taxable property or services.”

The FairTax Act does not withdraw Congress’ power to lay and collect taxes calculated from profits, gains, wages, tips and other lawfully realized incomes. It merely promises a repeal of the 16th Amendment within seven years, and this is after the new 23% tax has been put into operation.

See SEC. 401. ELIMINATION OF SALES TAX IF SIXTEENTH AMENDMENT NOT REPEALED.

“If the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is not repealed before the end of the 7-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, then all provisions of, and amendments made by, this Act shall not apply to any use or consumption in any year beginning after December 31 of the calendar year in which or with which such period ends, except that the Sales Tax Bureau of the Department of the Treasury shall not be terminated until 6 months after such December 31.”

The FairTax Act also increases the number of federal tax returns required to be filed from one to twelve Federal tax returns a year;

See: “SEC. 501. MONTHLY REPORTS AND PAYMENTS.”

“(a) Tax Reports And Filing Dates.—
“(1) IN GENERAL.—On or before the 15th day of each month, each person who is—
“(A) liable to collect and remit the tax imposed by this subtitle by reason of section 103(a), or
“(B) liable to pay tax imposed by this subtitle which is not collected pursuant to section 103(a),
shall submit to the appropriate sales tax administering authority (in a form prescribed by the Secretary) a report relating to the previous calendar month.

The FairTax Act also requires ordinary working people to register with government in order to exercise a fundamental right of mankind . . . selling the property each has in their own labor.

See “SEC. 502. REGISTRATION.”

“(a) In General.—Any person liable to collect and remit taxes pursuant to section 103(a) who is engaged in a trade or business shall register as a seller with the sales tax administering authority administering the taxes imposed by this subtitle.

The FT also requires ordinary people to become tax collectors for government;

See “SEC. 103. RULES RELATING TO COLLECTION AND REMITTANCE OF TAX.”

“(a) Liability For Collection And Remittance Of The Tax.—Except as provided otherwise by this section, any tax imposed by this subtitle shall be collected and remitted by the seller of taxable property or services (including financial intermediation services).

the FairTax also requires taxpayers to keep whatever records Congress may dream up in the future;

See “SEC.

The alleged FairTax also sneakily allows Congress to lay and collect countless “excise taxes” in addition to the new 23% FairTax, which members of Congress may dream up, and can be calculated from profits, gains and other incomes.

See SEC. 302. ADMINISTRATION OF OTHER FEDERAL TAXES”

And, the FairTax Act creates a new entitlement, the “Family Consumption Allowance” [a monthly government check sent to every “qualified family” in the U.S.] that would become another political partisan wedge-issue, just like Social Security, used during election time to buy votes in addition to making an enormously large segment of those who vote extremely dependent upon government to access their monthly necessities of life.

See “SEC. 301. FAMILY CONSUMPTION ALLOWANCE”.

“Each qualified family shall be eligible to receive a sales tax rebate each month. The sales tax rebate shall be in an amount equal to the product of—

“(1) the rate of tax imposed by section 101, and

“(2) the monthly poverty level.”

Why on earth would any politician or freedom loving American citizen, after studying the proposed legislation, support this dastardly evil tax reform which would enlarge and strengthen the federal government’s iron fisted taxing grip around the American peoples’ necks?

Once again Biden is trying to distract the people from discussing his traitorous policies by promising to veto the FairTax Act which is supported by a handful of nitwitted Republicans and will never get to his desk for his signature.

See:

Joe Biden Threatens Huge GOP Tax Plan: “I’m Going To Veto The Sucker”

2/4/2023

“Joe Biden told a Philadelphia gathering this week that they shouldn’t worry about a 30% national sales tax that would affect diapers, shoes and other items Americans purchase every day. Biden was addressing the Republican proposal advertised as the “fair tax” that “would replace the income tax system and do away with the IRS,” according to Forbes”.

Almost everything this Administration is doing is an outright attack on the general welfare of the United States and her citizens, e.g.:

  • Flooding the United States with millions upon millions of poverty-stricken, poorly educated, low skilled, diseased, disabled, and criminal foreign nationals;

  • Allowing deadly drugs to pour across our border which is killing our nation’s youth;

  • Hollowing out our military’s seasoned and well-trained officers, troops, seamen and pilots by discharging them for not being injected with an ineffective and experimental “vaccine”;

  • Depleting our militaries’ weapons of defense by transferring them into the hands of foreign nationals;

  • Emptying out our strategic oil reserve which is specifically intended for use in a national emergency such as war;

  • Shutting down our nation’s ability to produce cheap fuel needed for our nation’s manufacturing competitiveness;

  • Imposing unrealistic regulations upon our nation’s businesses and industries which in turn is destroying our manufacturing capabilities and global competitiveness;

  • Flooding our country with a worthless paper currency causing consumer goods to double and even triple in price;

  • Working to transfer our nation’s technology to hostile foreign countries . . . etc., and etc, …

Surely there is no wondering why Biden prefers to talk about, and promises to veto the alleged FairTax Act, which will never get to his desk. He is trying to drown out any talk about his traitorous policies which amount to an outright attack on the general welfare of the United States and her citizens.

JWK

There is no surer way to weaken, subdue and bring to its knees a prosperous and freedom loving country than by flooding it with deadly drugs, an inflated currency and the poverty stricken, poorly educated, low skilled, diseased, disabled, and criminal populations of other countries.

I think I figured out why some Republicans in Congress want to adopt the FairTax Act and introduce an additional way to raise federal revenue. They want to fund Biden’s travel agency for foreign nationals. See:

April 12, 2022

"Biden is rolling out the welcome mat.

Illegal border-crossers will no longer be treated like criminals. More like customers. The president’s fiscal budget, presented March 28, cuts funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement by 8%, despite an expected surge in migrants, and reduces detention beds. Meanwhile, he’s increasing funding a whopping 700% for “noncitizen processing and care,” speedier service and more flights and ground transportation.

Kind of like a travel agency."

How much of our federal tax dollars are now being spent by this Administration to assist and encourage the invasion at our southern border by millions upon millions of the worlds the poverty stricken, poorly educated, low skilled, diseased, disabled, and criminals foreign nationals? Are American citizens not already being made into tax slaves and second-class citizens by the Biden Administration?

And now, we find Republican members in Congress want to give our federal government an additional source to raise revenue . . . the FairTax Act which would create a 23 % tax on consumption and taxable property owned by American Citizens.

The Republicans in Congress who support this crap ought to be kicked out of the Republican Party.

JWK

What will it take for American Citizens to accept the fact that their homeland is under attack orchestrated by the Biden Administration?

I am still waiting for a Republican House member who supports the FairTax Act to explain why they embrace creating a new Federal entitlement . . . the Family Consumption Allowance which, like Social Security, is a very bad and dangerous idea, especially since it would make another huge voting block dependent on government to receive a monthly and rationed supply of tax-free necessities of life.

As Hamilton pointed out: A POWER OVER A MAN’s SUBSISTENCE AMOUNTS TO A POWER OVER HIS WILL ____ Hamilton, No. 79 Federalist Papers

Why is it that not one of the FairTax Act’s co-sponsors is willing to explain why they are so eager to create a new “third-rail” entitlement which we have already learned is destructive to our nation’s general welfare ?

Why would any freedom loving Republican in Congress support this patently evil tax reform which would tighten the iron fist of government around the American people’s necks?

JWK

What would be the total federal cost to finance the fairtax entitlement called the “Family consumption Allowance?

With all the brilliant posters in this forum, I was wondering if one could provide an estimated figure, or a link, showing the total annual dollar amount our federal government would have to dole out to finance the FairTax “Family Consumption Allowance” to every qualified family in the United States.
