Remembrance Day: Britain’s Greatest Mistake of the Last 150 years

The 4th Anniversary of Britain’s greats mistake in the last 150 years.

England went from, before WWl, the worlds largest creditor nation to; after WWl, the worlds largest debtor nation.

20 years after the end of the war her empire was in taters, and not only was she a beggar nation to the US but soon to France and not long after to GERMANY.

The best decision for Britain in 1914 would have been to stay neutral.
Europe would have been little different than after the Franc-Prussian of 1870
England would still be the great counter balance.
And a lot of other things.

Another lesson of imperial hubris. A lesson for America.

So what’s the lesson?

The Hubris of Empire.

Yeah…and we’d all be speaking German too.

Put your head in the sand, ignore what’s going on and choose…to do nothing cuz in the end…it’s all about $. Got it. Thanks for the head up.

That has to be in the top 3 of the stupidest post you’ve ever made. How exactly is 1917 Germany a threat to the US, Britain is still a large and thriving world power since they’ve stayed out of the war that likely didn’t go worldwide.

Britain should never have asked the Anglo Saxons to come in to help fight off the Scots.

Shouldn’t this sort of question be in a history forum instead of politics?

Going to war isn’t about politics? This is also a lesson the US should learn. It failed that lesson recently.

The Hubris of Empire.

A fool and his money are soon parted…

Monarch’s and they’re empires easily lost.

What took Britain 200 years to build was gone in 30.

What happened 4 years ago?

It was the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the crumbling of the British empire and it’s decent into a second rate power.

ETA: They lost a generation of young men.

did they ever get their rock back?
