But if this reduced it by half I’ll be ecstatic. I am upto 5-10 robocalls a day. I get my moms land line calls to protect her from garbage but still.

Maybe you didn’t quite catch the sarcasm in my post. The DNC list did not work PERIOD. In fact, after registering with the grand old govt DNC list website, the amount of calls I received increased.

I have a feeling this will end the same way. There will always be a way to work around and it will not be the cure all everyone is touting it will be.

This sounds similar to what Verizon already does. Where they ping back the number their system is saying is calling, and if it doesn’t match it get caller IDd as potential spam.

If Verizon is doing that, they suck at that also. I am continually getting spam calls, many with spoofed numbers that I KNOW are spoofed, and yet they don’t get marked as spam. I have yet to see one call marked spam.

No, it was not and never has been successful for me. I reserve any high fives for this bill until it proves itself worthwhile. So many of these things end up being useless.

Have you had your number for a long time? I changed mine a couple of years ago to an unlisted number that I rarely ever give out and the only spam I get is from my congresswoman’s campaign staff. I could just be lucky.

What do you use for interwebs confirmation numbers?

I like getting texts if my card is being misused or something along those lines. I know you are not a big city guy and i don’t know how much online presence you have. Just wondering why do you for those purposes.

You said you rarely give it out. Do you give it out to apps or services that give you a heads up that a package is being delivered or a large purchase was made on your credit card for example? Or do you use an email address?

Oh, I haven’t owned a cellphone in years now either, I was talking about my landline. My tablet has data services though.

When I did have a cell, it was rooted and had fancy blocker apps that sent anything not on my contacts to voicemail.

Had the landline number for 27+ years.

Current cell phone number for 12+ years.

Heck, it was my hubby’s number before we were married so it’s been out there a lot longer than the number of years I indicated.

As for longevity in general, I have no desire to contact everyone to give them a new number. I’m lazy like that.

the bill requires phone companies to verify where calls come from and allow consumers to block them at no cost

it now moves to the senate where its expected to pass overwhelmingly

Its about time. I dont even answer my phone anymore because almost every call is spam

I understand what you said about not answering your phone. We don’t have a land line but we still get way to many spam calls.

I don’t answer any call that has no name attached to it.

Frankly I wish they would have included bans on political calls and charitable org calls!

I moved from NY to FL 7 years ago, but I kept my NY number. Spoof calls are easy to spot this way, most of the spam calls are spoofed from my old area code. I literally got 48 spoofed calls today alone. I’m sick of them, this us good news!

i still have my chicago number after 12 years
I have an app on my phone that block all numbers from the same first 3 digits as mine. thats in addition to basically never answering any calls

ive gotten those. as well as the "your windows pc is broken and we need to install software to fix it.
