Does anyone else on the Forum live in a state that mandates employers provide paid medical and/or family leave? Got some questions for you guys here.
On average, how much is taken from employee pay checks to cover a benefit some may not want (personally, I don’t care if employees voluntarily opt into Short Term Disability plans that will pay their salaries during leave of absence, but do not support government forcing employees to pay into such a benefit).
What is the rationale behind forcing employers to cover such a leave? Are states struggling to keep up with expenses like SNAP during periods eligible individuals may take leave & apply for assistance?
Appears a conservative MA Governor signed this legislation. I thought conservatives were against government intrusion & forcing individuals & corporate entities from the purchase of services they don’t want.
Have these laws affected small businesses in your states? Or curbed larger employers from filling their open positions?
