I think the consensus among Trump voters (regarding lobbyists) at this point is “a man has to earn a living”.
Drain the swamp is just a slogan that President Trump, as a businessman, created to gain an advantage over his opponents.
Voters who truly believed that President Trump was going to fulfill that promise was only fooling themselves.
I remember in 2008 during the primaries, then-candidate Obama promised to "go through the budget line-by-line and cross out frivolous expenses. I knew that he was blowing smoke on that statement.
