This one was a result of confusion.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adjusted its COVID-19 tracking for the state of Florida on Tuesday as confusion over reporting practices sparked a feud between federal and state authorities.
After the CDC website showed record high numbers for Sunday, Aug. 8, the Florida Department of Health balked, accusing the agency of folding several days of new cases into one.
***The gap was significant, with the CDC initially claiming there were 28,317 new cases on Sunday, while the Florida DOH puts that number at 15,319. ***
On Tuesday the CDC adjusted its number down to 19,584.

I saw that a while ago… he does an amazing takedown using Brian Deer’s work of Wakefeild and some other stuff surrounding that I didn’t know about.
But the real shame about all of this is Andrew Wakefield ended up dating Elle Macpherson… there is no justice.
Is this thread about news media getting things wrong or government agencies?

Both. CDC published the data for public consumption and the media fed it to consumers.
So what’s your problem? That people make mistakes?

That so many mistakes get past editors and published…since you asked so nicely.
Have some fun with it.

Not many people can look at a study and know that.

It’s called the sheoplization of Amercia and it’s not new. This has been going on for a while now and especially since citizens broke from the expected Clinton outcome and voted Trump into office.

People have always made mistakes and always will.
The “sheoplization” of America started when America was founded. It has no political allegiance.

Yes and no. I agree with you that the selling of agendas is nothing new but the coordination of the mainstream media, where all across the nation, local news casters are repeating the same garbage that leans unquestionably left…is new. When you combine that with the social media giants…it’s very, very new. Social media is something that did not exist just two decades ago.

The right wing propaganda machine wouldn’t exist without social media so…as stated, there’s no political allegiance.

What’s all of this talk about censoring and misinformation as determined soley by social media? Take for example, the Wuhan lab theory that you and I discussed over a year ago. It was censored by social media but now that it appears social media is the one who is being proven wrong, only as of late, is it mentioned on social media without being removed…
Then most people shouldn’t just read the results and take them as facts. These are technical papers and the first thing you should always read in one of them is the methods section. If that passes the sniff test, read the results.
I will give you an example. In Cardiology we can image guide our stents via intravascular technology, which is superior to not imaging and just using the angiograms for guidance. A paper came out a few years ago that stated advanced imaging had no long term benefit.
But when you read the methods, you realized the folks doing the imaging never tried to make the stents better when imaging said it sucked in over half the cases in the imaging arm.
So, of course the results were the same, you never acted on the new information.
This goes to the concept of bias, these guys wanted imaging to fail and so they set up a trial to make it happen. This has to be disclosed so you just put it in the methods section, where most people don’t bother to look. They just read the results.

The “talk of censoring” is the right wing propaganda mill ginning up its Fear Factories to keep the faithful in line.
