Considering the Chinese govt has a history of Mass Murder and is an undemocratic fascist socialist state. Shouldn’t the congress pass a resolution in support of the protesters in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Protesters Briefly Clash with Police, Wave American Flags and Sing National Anthem
“Something is probably happening with Hong Kong, because when you look at, you know, what’s going on, they’ve had riots for a long period of time,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday before departing for a campaign rally in Cincinnati.
The Global Times, a nationalistic newspaper published by China’s Communist Party, signaled approval with an article headlined “Trump tells truth about HK riot.”
“When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength,” Trump replied. “That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak…as being spit on by the rest of the world.”
Shouldn’t our president come out and fully support the protesters?
Trump thinks that if he talks nice to Xi Jinping he will get his way on the trade deal.
He doesn’t realize how off base he is with that assessment.
And telling Xi that he should meet with the protesters is laughable.
This guy doesn’t have a clue.
If President Xi would meet directly and personally with the protesters, there would be a happy and enlightened ending to the Hong Kong problem. I have no doubt!
Do Any dems have comments supporting the protest.?
Usually the SOS takes the lead on situations like this. And so far Pompeo seems to be out of the picture other then a brief neutral statement. In the past congress has left foreign policy to the WH. And there are Democrats who are asking the WH what our official policy is. And so far they are getting nada.
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a longtime critic of China’s human rights record, on Wednesday threw her influence behind bipartisan legislation to require the Trump administration to certify Beijing is maintaining its special treatment of Hong Kong.
