I’m aware of this. I’m also aware that outright legalization would create problems that no amount of oversight would prevent. It’s the same thing with legalized drugs. It affects others than just the consenting adults.
Prostitution has been around forever.
It’s not going away any time soon, it would be safer if it was legal, and society is indeed not hurt by it being legal.
So no need to make it illegal.
So you wouldn’t object if your mother, wife, sister or daughter wanted a side job to make a little extra money then?

The statement was that society is not hurt by legal prostitution. Of course it’s relevant.
Yes because God knows there would be no infidelity without legalized prostitution…
. If anything, at least there’d be no emotions invovled with a guy getting some on the side…

The treating sex workers with respect comment he made was wonderful. The “we are looking into the legalization of sex work” question answer he made was bad.
So have theft and murder. All three are destructive to society and to the individuals on both ends.
People objecting to friends/relatives engaging in prostitution is not relevant to its legalization.
Common sense says you’re the one who is incorrect.
Of course it’s relevant since we get to vote.
There are male sex workers also. “Rent boys,” as they are called.
I’d say child sex “workers” are victims and hopefully in places where prostitution is legal, sex with minors is still illegal.
The below article is from 2009, but I’d say the amount of women forced into prostitution rather than engaging in it willingly has only increased.
Its not relevant as to the question of SHOULD it be legal.

No I’d never berate the OP. I disagree with the argument though. I absolutely think prostitution should be legal. I only see positives by regulating it. And the argument of would you want your daughter doing it doesn’t work for me. If I had a daughter I wouldn’t want het stripping, but I’m not going to mandate that be illegal.
Sidenote. I do find it fascinating how porn is legal and not prostitution. The performance/filming part makes it okay. Let’s be honest. If we’re fine with porn we’re fine with prostitution. So America is pretty fine with prostitution.
